Zack Riddle picked up the checkered flag in the 30 lap All Challenge Late Models feature in an event run prior to the Badger 200 for the ARCA Racing Series.
A dozen cars answered the call led to the green flag by Ronnie Osborne and Brandon Reichenberger. Reichenberger jumped out to the early lead followed closely by Bobby Wilberg and Zack Riddle.
On lap 4 Wilberg powered his way to the inside to take the lead with Riddle close behind and on lap 5 he passed Wilberg coming out of turn four to take the lead. Colton Morgan moved into third as the top three cars checked away from the field.
After ten laps Riddle’s lead was up to three car lengths and at the half-way mark his advantage was up to eight lengths. Behind Wilberg and Morgan, Osborne was a distant fourth followed by Carson Phillips. On lap 21 Riddle made his way past the lapped car of Cole Gray with Wilberg and Morgan doing the same one lap later.
With three laps to go Morgan was applying heavy pressure on Wilberg for second, but nobody was going to catch Riddle who raced to victory lane. Wilberg finished second followed by Morgan, Carson Phillips, and Carter Nilson.
“It’s been a roller coaster of a season. We’ve got the car back to where it should be. This feels good,” said Riddle from victory lane. The win was his third of the season at Madison and 42nd overall in the division where he finished the season third in the points standings.
“It was a good run and we finished off the season well,” said runner-up Wilberg. “Without these sponsors we couldn’t do it.”
Morgan added, “It was a really good run. It’s fun running with the big dogs here.” He was also the fast qualifier with a lap of 18.964 (94.917 mph).
The final event of the season at Madison will be the One on One Street Drags on Thursday, September 11th. Gates will open at 6:00 with practice and grudge racing at 6:30 and the first bracket taking to the 300’ drag strip at 7:30.
