Thursday Night Street Drags
6:00PM Pits Open
6:30PM Practice and Grudge Runs
7:30PM Brackets Start
Q: What are they?
A: Street Drags are drag races using street vehicles. They are held on a short “drag strip” (300ft for cars, 275 ft for cycles) using the front stretch of the oval race track.
Q: How many cars participate in each race?
A: The Street Drags are drags. Only two cars in each race. Both vehicles are in their own separate lane.
Q: Would my car have a chance at winning anything?
A: Absolutely. We have at least twelve different brackets. Our goal is to put similar style and powered cars/ trucks/etc. together. It makes for better racing and is a lot more fun for the competitors and fans and increases your chance at winning.
Q: Do you do ET’s?
A: No. This is not a serious, all-out drag race. The event is about having fun, getting friends together, and speeding without putting that risk on the streets. Serious drag racing can be kept at the 1/4 mile drag strips.
Q: How many times do I get to race?
A: During the “Grudge” racing, as many times as time permits. Note: Grudge racing means you against your buddy, or whomever…advantages (“handicapping” – in car lengths) are given, If you so choose. For the Brackets, typically you will have to lose twice to be eliminated. The number of cars will determine the “elimination” number. You can always “Buy Back” into your bracket. With a “Buy Back” you may continue to compete until you lose (single elimination). Every Car that goes onto the track at all times must have a bracket registration sticker.
Q: Can I race in more than one Bracket?
A: Yes. However you must move “up” to a stronger Bracket.
Q: Who can race?
A: Anyone over 16 years old with a parent or guardian. For those over age 18, no parent or guardian needed.
Q: Do I need a helmet?
A: Cars – No. Cycles – Yes (plus pants and a jacket – leather). Seat belts are mandatory.
Q: Can I have a passenger?
A: Yes. Everyone must be buckled and no one under age 12 allowed riding. You may take as many riders as seat belts allow in your vehicle. Hands, arms, heads and legs must be kept inside the car at all times. Cycles – driver only.
Q: What happens if I win my bracket?
A: Way to go! …you win a trophy, and we will put your photo congratulating your achievement on this website.
Q: Is there a protest procedure.
A: No. If you take this too seriously, we prefer you not race. FINAL NOTES:
This event is just a gathering of automotive enthusiasts that can do some racing and HAVE FUN. We do not tolerate stupidity, nor any participant that drinks alcohol prior to racing. Again, this is about having some clean, old fashioned fun…period.
