Momentum on Carter 2 Motorsports Side Heading to Madison

(Mooresville, NC – August 23, 2012) – Last week Carter 2 Motorsports, C2M, proved they could run and finish up front with the big boys. With Thomas F. O’Leary behind the No. 40 Dodge the team earned a hard fought 13th place finish at the Illinois State Fairgrounds marking their best finish of the season.

The team hopes to keep lady luck on their side as The Hawk, also known as Darren Hagen, rejoins C2M for the third time this season driving the No. 04 Dodge at Madison International Speedway. In his two previous starts with the team, speed was never the issue, as Hagen consistently ran in the top 10 at Berlin Raceway earlier this month. Unfortunate luck such as a broken track bar while running 8th cost him a solid finish. This week Hagen doesn’t enter the half-mile track with unrealistic expectations but rather one pivotal goal – to finish.

“I’ve never raced at Madison and a lot of the veterans I usually go to for advice haven’t been to this place either so first round of practice will be a learning experience,” said Hagen, who also relies on YouTube videos of past races to educate himself. “I had a strong run the last time I was with this team, so my goal this time is just to finish, do the best we can, and see where that puts us.”

Hagen is no stranger to short tracks recently racing a two-night event at Bellelville, KS where he finished 3rd and 4th, followed by a 3rd place finish last Sunday at Angell Park Speedway. The strong runs extended his point’s lead to 186 in the USAC National Midget title.

C2M and Hagen will have two practices on Saturday to prepare for the Herr’s Live Life with Flavor 200, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following. The 200-lap, 100-mile race will begin Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. ARCARacing.com will feature live timing and scoring coverage throughout the weekend.
