Story Image

Although the temperatures outside have been on the cool side lately, it’s going to really heat up this week at Madison International Speedway with two first ever events and “Buck Night” on tap. The debut of the One on One Street Drags will take to the track on Thursday night with the NASCAR Whelen All American Weekly Racing program along with the Mad Town Meltdown getting started on Friday night after rain washed away the opener this past Friday. To make things even better Friday will also be “Buck Night” featuring great food and drink deals.

The One on One Street Drags will take place on a 300 foot drag strip on the front stretch and will be the first of five racing events are on the schedule from May to September with the primary purpose being to have fun.

Over a dozen different types of divisions will be featured so rest assured that there’s a division for nearly all types of cars, trucks, vans, and motorcycles. Pit gates open at 6:00, practice and “grudge runs” at 6:30 with bracket racing beginning at 7:30. A “Shine and Show” car contest will also take place during each of the Thursday Night Street Drag events.

This is your opportunity to come out and race with us at Madison. Cost to race or watch is just $10.00.

The excitement will sizzle on Friday night with the Mad Town Meltdown and the 2016 weekly racing season opener featuring Late Models, Sportsman, Bandits and the visitors from Vintage Racing of Illinois. The hunt begins for the 2016 track championships in the three weekly divisions where a highly competitive field is expected to call Madison home on Friday nights.

Bring your appetite and thirst to the speedway on Friday for the return of Buck Night with all concessions just $1 / beer is $2. This was one of the most popular promotions last season and it’s back again this year with two nights schedule. Buck Night is also on the schedule for July 15th.

The Mad Town Meltdown will give drivers an attempt to break the track record without having to worry about rules. A total of $1000 is available to anyone who can set the new track record by breaking the mark set by Tim Cox when he wheeled his winged sprint car around the track to the tune of a 14.770 lap. The Super Late Model track record of 17.245 set by Chris Wimmer is also up for a $1000 challenge for any stock car to take home. Word has it that several sprint cars are headed to Madison along with some very creative stock cars.

Pit gates will open at 3:30 with practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30.
