It has come to our attention that a few competitors are circumventing the Street Tire spirit of the rule for the Detroit Iron Street and Domestic Performance Street classes. We have always counted on you to be honest with the Tech Officials about what you have. That said, there may have been some confusion between the Street and DOT classes. To eliminate any confusion there may have been heading into this Thursday Night’s Street Drag event at Madison International Speedway, please read the descriptions below. Thank you and we look forward to having fun on the second Thursday of each month this summer.
Street refers to a street radial tire with a DOT stamp and a min tread wear warning of 300. Examples of correct tires include Milestars, Mastercrafts and Cooper Cobras. Slicks and drag radials are prohibited. NO Mickey Thompson Streets/ETs, etc
DOT refers to a Drag Radial with DOT stamp
We will have an official positioned in the staging lanes on Thursday night for these two classes to ensure tires meet the standard. Thank you.
