The Racing Heats Up at Madison as the Temperatures Cool Down

Story Image

It’s been another hot and humid stretch of weather in south central Wisconsin, but it’s going to be cooler temperatures on Friday night just as the racing action is starting to heat up. Friday will be a Late Model Double Header where both the Super Late Models and NASCAR Late Models will be on track as part of the same racing program. Add in the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman and Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits and it’s going to be a hot night of racing all presented by Bobcat of Janesville.

Round two of the Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge is on tap with a talented field headed to Madison to battle it out for 50 laps. Four time ARCA Midwest Tour champion Ty Majeski returns to Madison along with last year’s Triple Crown Challenge winner Dan Fredrickson. This year’s Joe Shear Classic winner Austin Nason, who also won last Saturday’s All Star 100 at Rockford, plus two-time Triple Crown Champion Casey Johnson will also be in action. Paul Shafer Jr. and Rich Bickle Jr. each won a race last year, and they’ll be here too. Definitely a very talented and competitive field.

John Baumeister Jr. comes into Friday night’s NASCAR Late Model race with a slight lead in the points after picking up the feature win on June 22nd. Shaun Scheel and Bobby Wilberg have picked up wins this year, but it might be awhile before we see a repeat winner in the Late Models with a deep field of great drivers racing here weekly. It’s going to be an exciting 30 laps of Late Model action this Friday. Robert Hansberry Jr. saw his win streak snapped two weeks ago, but he still has a solid point lead over the rest of the field. But that could all change this Friday as several drivers have a shot at making some big moves in the standings. On the “Ring of Fire” Nick Schmidt shows the way in the Bandits as the division puts on a great show each time out with some of the best “bandits” you’ll see racing anywhere.

Pit gates on Friday open at 3:30 with practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15, and racing at 7:30. Be sure to take advantage of the $40.00 Family Ticket which includes two adults and up to four students / children. Adult admission is $18.00 with Whelen Heroes (Military / First Responders) and Seniors saving $2.00 off adult admission. Students (12-17) are $10.00 with children (6-11) $5.00 and 5 and under free.
