Here is the latest from your NASCAR Home Track…
Get ready for some high speed action this Friday night at Madison International Speedway as the Super Late Models return to Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile for the fourth annual Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge presented by Colony Brands.
This year’s format will look slightly different than in previous years as the “Challenge” will be a fifty lap event. See the top Super Late Model drivers in the region come to Madison to battle it out for top honors. The event will pay $1500 to win / $500 to start plus there will be an overall point fund of $3000 for the top five finishers after the three races.
B and B Lawncare from Woodstock, Illinois, will also be sponsoring the B and B Lawncare Dash with $1600 in point fund money for the top overall finishers after three races. The top six qualifiers will compete in the Dash.
A great field of drivers is expected including defending ARCA Midwest Tour champion Ty Majeski, multi-time Madison track champions Dave Feiler and Bobby Wilberg, plus Andrew Morrissey, Jeremy Miller, Dale Nottestad, Steve Apel, and many more.
For Apel it will be his first visit to MIS. “I’ve never raced at MIS in a super late. I’m super excited to run the Triple Crown and look forward to supporting the McKarns family and Madison International Speedway. Hopefully, we can have a good run and gain some points for the Kulwicki driver development program.”
A tentative driver list will be released on Tuesday.
Past champions of the Triple Crown Challenge include Nathan Haseleu (2012), Casey Johnson (2013), and Chris Wimmer (2014).
Round two will be held on July 10th with the final round set for August 21st.
Also in action this Friday night will be the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman and the Vores Compact Touring Series.
Pit gates open at 3:30 with practice at 4:45, qualifying at 6:30, and racing at 7:30. Special event pricing applies for Friday night. Colony Brands will give away can coolers to the first 1,000 fans.
An open practice session will also be held on Thursday, June 4th from 5-8 PM.
Vores Touring Compact Series Comes to Madison this Friday Night
Race fans will have an opportunity to see four cylinder cars racing on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile this Friday night when the Vores Touring Compact Series comes to MIS.
The touring series will be making two stops in the Badger State racing at Madison on Friday and the Dells Raceway Park on Saturday. Drivers from at least five states are expected to make the northern swing.
The Vores series was formed in 2011 and began their first full year of racing in 2012 competing at the Winchester Speedway in Indiana and Eldora Speedway in Ohio. The series, which has both a north and south division, has added many tracks since that time and this will be their first-ever time at Madison.
Andy Jach from the Vores Compact Touring Series said, “I’m truly excited to introduce the Vores Compact Touring Series to Wisconsin. It should be an All Star field of cars and drivers invading MIS this weekend. We look forward to making this a yearly to trip to the Badger State.”
“This is going to be something new,” said Kyle Stark in reference to running the four cylinders on the half-mile. “I’m hoping a lot of cars show up because it will be fun.” Stark is one of the many local drivers planning on taking on the big track.
Front wheel drive Bandits, Internationals, etc. are eligible. “We hope the local guys come out and defend their track,” added Jach.
Dave’s White Rock Tractor and Truck Pull is Saturday Night
The South Central Tractor Pullers, Badger Truck Pullers, and Tri County Mini Rods will be at Madison this Saturday night for the Dave’s White Rock Tractor and Truck Pull.
There will also be a spectator truck pull paying $500 to the winner. Any street legal pick up truck that is driven to the track is eligible to enter for just $20.
First pull is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
