Two big events are on tap this week at Madison with a full NASCAR racing program on Friday night that will also include “Buck” Night plus the return of the One on One Street Drags on Thursday.
One on One Street Drags this Thursday Night
It’s time for the One on One Street Drags this Thursday night with pit gates / grandstands opening at 6:00, “Grudge” racing and practice at 6:30, and bracket racing beginning at 7:30. Over 100 cars were in the pits in June before rain washed out the program. There is a division for just about every type of vehicle to be able to compete on our 300 foot dragstrip. Besides cars and trucks of all types we’ve had motorcycles and ATVs as well. We also have a high school division for those who want to challenge their classmates.
Cost to enter is just $10.00 per bracket. There will also be a “Shine and Show” contest in the pits to judge the best appearing vehicles.
The One on One Street Drags are all about having fun so come out this Thursday to compete or watch…it’s a great time for all. Pit passes / grandstand admission is $10.00 with kids eleven and under admitted free.
Buck Night Features Five Divisions in Action
It’s going to be a great night at Madison International Speedway this Friday with five divisions in action plus it’s the return of Buck Night featuring concessions for $1.00 and beer for $2.00 with some restrictions applying. That’s right…concessions and beer at low, low prices.
The Club LaMark NASCAR Late Models and Dave’s White Rock Sportsman will be on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile while the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits, Roto Rooter 6Shooters, and Central States Super Cups on the famous Ring of Fire.
Like the weather in south central Wisconsin this week, point races in the three weekly divisions are really starting to heat up. Bobby Wilberg shows the way in the Late Models with 547 and a seventy-nine point advantage over Zack Riddle. Only 23 points separate the second through fifth positions of Riddle, John Beale, Kevin Knuese, and John Baumeister Jr.
Robert Hansberry Jr. has a 769-710 lead over Ryan Goldade in the Sportsman with Steve Anderson a close third at 693,
In the Bandits Brandon DeLacy sets the pace with 449 points followed by Steve Dickson, Chris Tolliver, James Junget, and Nick Schmidt.
No point standings are maintained for the 6Shooters who will be making their third appearance of the season.
Pit gates open at 3:30 with practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30. Adult admission is just $12.00 / Whelen Hero and Seniors are $10.00 / Students are $8.00 / Kids 6-11 are $5.00. Save big money with Family Pricing where two adults and up to four students / kids are just $30.00.
This would be a perfect week to bring someone out to the races who has never had the experience of witnessing live racing up close and personal.
Friday Night Review
Congratulations to this past Friday’s feature winners in all four divisions. Zack Riddle and Bobby Wilberg took home checkered flags in the NASCAR Late Models, Steve Anderson and Ryan Goldade split the wins in the Sportsman, Nick Schmidt and Lyle Phillips won in the Bandits, and Aaron Moyer swept both features in the Legends.
Wilberg now has two wins in 2016 while Riddle picked up his first checkered flag of the season. It was win number three for Goldade while Anderson notched his first victory of the season. Nick Schmidt took home his first checkered flag of the season in the Bandits while Phillips won his first-ever feature in the division. Aaron Moyer now has twenty all-time wins at Madison after his sweep.
It was also an exciting night for Dave Watson, Conrad Morgan and their families, plus the families of Bob Schmelzer and Fritz Bishofberger who are the newest members of the Hall of Fame. Their names are now proudly displayed on the wall in turns three and four along with last year’s inductees John Ziegler, Sam Bartus, Tom Reffner, and Dick Trickle.

Friday, July 22: Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge Round 2 plus Club LaMark NASCAR Late Models, Dave’s White Rock Sportsman, and Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits. It’s also Kids’ Night with all children eleven and under admitted free with a $1000 coin scramble at intermission.
Friday, July 29: Salute to the Workin’ Man- half price admission with a current pay stub. Mid American Stock Car Series, Great Northern Sportsman, Midwest Trucks, Midwest Dash plus the Beer Mile (Must be 21 to enter this unique running race).
