Majeski and Fredrickson Return

This Friday night is Round Two of the Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge at Madison, and it’s shaping up to be a very competitive and talented field. The Triple Crown stars will be joined on the racing program by the NASCAR Late Models, Dave’s White Rock Sportsman, and Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits. This Friday’s events are presented by Bobcat of Janesville.

Austin Nason already has one win at Madison this year with that coming in the Joe Shear Classic for the ARCA Midwest Tour back in May. Nason comes into Friday night’s race off a big win in the ARCA Midwest Tour All Star 100 at the Rockford Speedway this past Saturday night. His sights are on the checkered flag after coming up just short behind Johnny Sauter in Round One.

Two-time Triple Crown champion Casey Johnson returns to Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile after getting a sixth place finish in the first round. Last year’s runner-up Paul Shafer Jr. will be making the trip from Portage, Indiana, hoping to improve on his third place finish. Chris and Jason Weinkauf are traveling south from Merrill, Wisconsin, after fourth and fifth place finishes at Madison earlier this year.

Two drivers who were not at the first round but will definitely challenge for the top spot this Friday night are Ty Majeski and Dan Fredrickson. Majeski, who is currently racing in the NASCAR XFinity Series, is a four-time ARCA Midwest Tour champion and has three Triple Crown victories to his credit. He’ll be joined by Minnesota driver Dan Fredrickson who was the Triple Crown Challenge champion last year and is always strong on the half-mile.

Keep your eyes on veteran drivers such as two-time Madison track champion Rich Bickle Jr. who picked up a victory last season and is always a threat to capture the checkered flag. Travis Dassow, Dean LaPointe, Matt Kocourek, Curt Tillman, and Rick Corso all bring many years of experience and speed to Madison.

ARCA Midwest Tour rookie John Beale will be here along with Jeff Holmgren Jr., Gabe Somers, and Jake Finney. Jake Carpenter won a heat race in his first-ever appearance at Madison back in Round One and Mike Meyerhofer of Burlington, Wisconsin, also will be back in action.

It’s going to be 50 laps of Super Late Model excitement on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile.

This is the seventh year of the Triple Crown Challenge with Johnson (2013 and 2016) the only repeat champion. Fredrickson (2017), Jeremy Miller (2015), Chris Wimmer (2014), and Nathan Haseleu (2012) the other champions.

The event is open to all Super Late Model teams so additional entries are possible. All rules, payout information, etc. are available at misracing.com.

It will be a double header of Late Model action on Friday with the NASCAR Weekly Late Models also on the racing program. John Baumeister Jr. is leading the points chase after picking up the win on June 15th. Add in the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman and Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits and it all adds up to a great night of family fun and entertainment.

Practice begins at 5:00 PM on Friday with qualifying at 6:15 PM followed by racing at 7:30 PM.
