Silver Crown, Late Models, MISfitz, and Fireworks on Tap
It’s Salute to America Night this week at Madison International Speedway featuring the USAC Silver Crown Series and the running of the Bytec Inc. Dairyland 100 along with our local stars in the Late Models and Dave’s White Rock MISfitz. Fans will also be treated to the area’s biggest and best aerial and ground fireworks display lighting up the skies while exploding directly overhead. If you’ve enjoyed this experience in the past you know what we’re talking about, and if you haven’t seen it, you need to be here this Friday night!
The thunder isn’t just in the sky, but it’s also on the track as the fastest cars you’ll see all season at Madison are back when the open wheel USAC Silver Crown cars come from coast to coast to take on Wisconsin’s Half-Mile. The series competes on both dirt and asphalt and Madison will be the fourth stop on their 2023 schedule. Logan Seavey won on the dirt at Port Royal Speedway in Pennsylvania this past weekend while Brady Bacon won at the Belleville High Banks in Kansas in May with Bobby Santos getting the win at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Indiana. Seavey is the current points leader followed by Kody Swanson, Brady Bacon, Justin Grant, and Matt Westfall. For more information about the series go to USAC Racing
This will be the fourth appearance by the USAC Silver Crown Series. CJ Leary won last year’s event with Swanson picking up the win in both 2018 and 2019. The track record holder at Madison is Justin Grant with a qualifying lap of 16.870 (106.97 mph) set in June of 2018. This is actually the sixth time the Silver Crown cars have been scheduled to race at Madison. The 2021 race was rained out as was a visit to IMPACT Speedway and the dirt track back in 1987. USAC racing at Madison goes back to 1969 when Mel Kenyon swept all three races for the USAC Midgets on the newly completed half-mile.
The Late Models will also be in action for their fifth feature event of the season going for the $1000 top prize. In fact, every feature race for the Late Models in 2023 pays $1000 to win. Defending track champion Zack Riddle has won three of the four races while Riley Stenjem picked up his first win this past Friday. But this week will find many drivers looking to pick up their first win of the season at Madison. The Dave’s White Rock MISfitz will also take to the half-mile for their fifth feature race of the season with Dave Edwards showing the way with two wins while Dan Snyder and Tanner Berge also have wins. These will be points events for both divisions.
