Robert Maynor Getting Ready for MIS

Robert Maynor Getting Ready for MIS

by John Wells

He might not have the most experience on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile at Madison International Speedway, but Robert Maynor is up for the challenge of competing in the Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge in 2013.

“I have only raced there once or twice so I am hoping to make some memories at Madison this year,” said Maynor.

The Hartland, Wisconsin, driver is no stranger to Super Late Model racing having won the 2008 CRA Super Series Sportsman of the Year and racing in elite events such as the All American 400, Winchester 400, and others.  Maynor got his start at the Slinger Speedway where he picked up his first career victory.

“I like the track configuration at Madison and the new rules package is what really attracted us to race there this year,” he added.

Maynor has been behind the wheel of a Super Late Model since 2001.  “At this point, running such a limited schedule, we just want to run good and have some fun this year.  I don’t win a lot in this sport, so doing well at MIS and picking up a win in the Triple Crown Challenge would be the highlight of twelve years of racing.”

He went on to say, “At Madison, like anywhere, you need good equipment, some talent, and a little luck.  Oh, and of course some patience is helpful too.”

Maynor reflects back on those who helped him get his start in racing.  “People like Conrad and Donavan Morgan, Dave Serchuk, Fred Krueger, Rick and Dave Saegert, and the DeStafano Family have helped me out over the years.  I love being at the track and involved in the racing community.”

His sponsors include HM Products Solutions Ltd., Shoreline Motorsports, and MCI Consulting.  Crew members include Dave Serchuk, Paul Kennedy, Rick Saegert, and Paul Slade.

“I also have to give a lot of credit to my wife, Heather, and kids Sarah and Nathan who are my biggest supporters.”
