Beale Picks Up Late Model Victory

John Beale picked up his first-ever NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model feature win at Madison in tonight’s make-up feature.

John Baumeister brought the field of Late Models back to the green flag on lap 9 (8 laps previously completed). His lead was short-lived as John Beale dropped to the inside to take the top spot coming out of turn four on lap 9 with Zack Riddle in close pursuit. The two quickly put distance between themselves and the field with nearly a two second difference between the second and third place car.

Working his way up the field was Dale Nottestad who started twelfth and was up to sixth with ten laps to go. But out front it was a duel between Beale and Riddle with Beale increasing his advantage to a length and a half with three laps to go. But there was no denying Beale who picked up the win followed by Riddle, Baumeister, Bobby Wilberg, and Nottestad.

“I want to thank my entire crew for coming out tonight. I was a lot of fun tonight. This feels good tonight,” said Beale.

Riddle Wins Feature and the Championship

Zack Riddle won the 30 lap feature for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Models.

In the second feature John Baumeister and Tim Adams brought the eighteen car field to the green flag with Baumeister jumping to the lead followed by Adams and Rusty Hansen. The first caution of the race came out on lap two for a spin on the backstretch.

Following the restart, disaster struck for both Shane Morrissey and Dale Nottestad. After the leader, John Baumeister, slid and spun coming out of turn three, both Morrissey and Nottestad veered sharply up the track and made heavy contact with the wall bringing out the red flag. The drivers were okay, but both cars were done for the night.

After the lengthy delay, Adams brought the field to the green flag. He opened up a four car length lead with Brady Liddle and Rusty Hansen racing hard for second before they made contact with each other, spinning and bringing out the caution. The incident also collected the cars of Scott Broughton and Kevin Knuese. Broughton was done for the night while Knuese was able to continue.

Adams maintained his lead for one more lap before Jeremy Miller and Zack Riddle both powered by him on the backstretch. On lap 5 John Beale and Bobby Wilberg moved up to third and fourth. Adams’ day would end on lap 8 when his car slowed in turn four bringing out the caution.

Another caution on the restart came when Baumeister’s machine went up in smoke coming to a stop on the front stretch. Trouble continued when the green flag waved again as Wilberg’s car started smoking and resulted in another caution and only ten of the original eighteen starters still on the track.

Miller continued to lead after the green flag with Riddle pulling to the inside on lap 11 and taking the lead coming out of turn four. Behind the leaders a great battle for third place was taking place between Beale and Liddle.

Despite his best efforts, Miller was unable to catch Riddle who picked up the checkered flag. Beale finished in third followed by Liddle and Don Wickstrum.

“I set all my goals very high and a lot of people have helped me out. This means a lot to me and all of the people who support me,” said Riddle from victory lane.

Fast time was Zack Riddle with a lap of 18.800. Riddle also won the First Supply Dash and the overall Dash championship for the season. Heat winners were John Beale, Brady Liddle, and Shane Morrissey.

Hansberry Tops the Field in the Sportsman

Robert Hansberry Jr. won the 15 lap feature for the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman. Ryan Goldade picked up the track championship for the second straight season followed in the points by Hansberry Jr. and Steve Anderson.

A wreck on the first lap of the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman feature resulted in a complete restart. Mike Taylor took the lead with Ryan Goldade side by side on the outside. On lap 3 Robert Hansberry Jr. passed Goldade for the second spot and took the lead coming out of turn four one lap later.

Goldade fought his way back to second with ten laps to go and began to close the gap on the leader. Two laps later the caution flag waved for a spin in turn two.

Hansberry Jr. continued to lead after the restart with Goldade in pursuit. But Hansberry Jr. was in total control as he raced his way to victory lane. Goldade finished second with Steve Anderson holding off Taylor for third.

“I’ve got to thank the Wickstrum family for making this possible,” said Hansberry Jr. from victory lane.

Goldade added, “My guys really worked hard all year especially with two cars. I absolutely love this place and am happy to have the opportunity to race here this year.

Robert Hansberry Jr. was the fastest qualifier with a lap of 19.994. Ryan Goldade won the First Supply Dash and claimed the overall title with a 48-46 decision over Hansberry Jr. Goldade also won the heat race.

David Schmidt Rolls to Bandit Victory

David Schmidt won the 20 lap make-up feature for the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits.

Lyle Phillips and Jovanni DiMaggio brought the field of Bandits to the green flag in their first feature. A spin in turn three brought out the caution on the first lap and collected several cars including Nick Schmidt who came into the night in second place and resulted in a complete restart.

On the restart, DiMaggio powered his way to the front followed by David Schmidt and Cade Watters. Schmidt took the top spot away from DiMaggio on lap 5 when he worked his way to the inside coming out of turn four. A good battle for third was taking place behind the leaders with Brandon DeLacy, Dan Snyder, and Watters.

Schmidt continued to increase his lead out front with a 2.5 second advantage with three laps to go. But it was all David Schmidt as he cruised his way to victory lane followed by DiMaggio, Snyder, DeLacy, and Steve Dickson.

“It could be a big night,” said Schmidt from victory lane.

Brandon DeLacy Takes Bandit Checkered Flag

Brandon DeLacy won the 20 lap feature for the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits.

In the second feature Kenny Smith grabbed the lead on the second lap after exciting four and five wide action on the Ring of Fire brought out the caution following one lap. Brandon DeLacy took over the lead after the restart followed by Nick Schmidt and Cade Watters. On lap 6 David Schmidt was up to third and putting pressure on Nick Schmidt. On lap 9 David Schmidt moved into second place inside of Nick Schmidt and followed by Dan Snyder.

As the trio battled for second, DeLacy was able to increase his lead out front, work his way around lapped traffic, and pick up the win. Snyder finished second followed by Nick Schmidt, David Schmidt, and Steve Dickson.

“The Schmidts had me worried. I’m glad to get the win tonight,” said DeLacy.

“I like this track. It’s fun and challenging. I have to thank my mom and dad,” said Snyder in a post race interview.

David Schmidt set fast time with a lap of 15.031. Schmidt also won the First Supply Dash with Dan Snyder crowned the overall winner in the Dash Series. Heat wins went to Chris Tolliver and Dan Snyder.

Next week is Friday Night Fright at MIS with ThunderCat Fireworks, School Bus Jump, Monster Trucks, Demo Derby, Drifting, 6Shooters, Spectacular Drags and more.
