Racing Continues this Friday at MIS…Fireworks Postponed Due to Weather

Racing will continue on Friday night at Madison International Speedway as part of Salute to America Night, but the fireworks part of the program has been postponed to a later date.

Earlier today track officials were notified by the local fire department and Department of Natural Resources advising them of a fireworks ban due to the unusually dry and hot weather.

“The show will go on minus the fireworks,” said MIS General Manager Dave Grueneberg.  “Once the weather conditions get back to normal we will be able to safely put on a fireworks show.”

Friday night will be a huge night at MIS even without the fireworks as the Big 8 Late Models, ASA Trucks, and Vintage cars will all be in action.  The Mid American Stock Car Series portion of the event has also been postponed and will be rescheduled for the same night as the fireworks program.

“The admission price for Friday night is going to be the same as a regular night,” added Grueneberg.  “All veterans and active duty military personnel will be admitted free as part of the Salute to America Night.”

MIS has also taken measures to assure fans will be comfortable despite the warm temperatures.

“It’s going to be a great night at MIS.  We can’t control the weather but it is what it is and we’re going to make the best of it and be sure that everyone has a great time,” noted Grueneberg.

Pit gates will open at 3:30 with practice at 4:45, qualifying at 6:00 and racing to follow.
