Racing and Spectators Return to MIS August 14 and 28 with Drive-In Race Events

Oregon, WI- Racing will return to ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ twice during the month of August.  On Friday Night August 14, racing will feature the Weekly Late Models, MISfitz and Midwest Dash Series with a second event, the Howie Lettow Classic 100 ARCA Midwest Tour event scheduled for Friday Night August 28 at Madison International Speedway.  The Midwest Trucks and 602 Late Models will join the ‘Stars and Cars’ of the ARCA Midwest Tour on August 28th at the family owned and operated speedway.  After discussions with Public Health Madison and Dane County, it was determined that a drive-in event would allow auto racing to return with spectators at the venue which has not seen racing take place thus far in 2020.

“I can’t wait to see racecars on the high banks at MIS again.” Stated MIS owner Gregg McKarns.  “It has been a long delay and we are glad that we found some common ground with the health department to allow us to open, even if in a non-traditional way.  Our race teams want to race here, our fans want to see racing here and on August 14 their wishes become a reality.”

The infield of the half mile paved oval will be reconfigured to allow over 400 infield parking stalls for race fans to enjoy the racing action from their car or truck.  Additionally, a select number of Hilltop VIP parking spaces are available.  Parking passes in both areas are on sale now at misracing.com/tickets and allows admission for all persons legally seated in the vehicle.  Season pass holders will be contacted to arrange parking passes.  Advance online purchase of parking passes is encouraged and spectators are reminded that they must stay with their vehicle unless going to use the restrooms or visit the concession stand.

Three events are being planned for September to complete a 2020 season at MIS.  The goal is to allow everyone that competes regularly at the race track located in rural Dane County, a chance to race this season.  Those events are a Sunday September 6 Impact Survival Series Enduro, a Thursday Night Street Drag event on September 10 and the Ring of Fire Season Finale the following night, Friday the 11th of September.  The Bandits, 6shooters and a V-8 Run What Ya Brung event are all slated to take to the quarter mile ‘Ring of Fire’ to conclude the season on the 11th, with additional divisions to be added.  Details for these events will be announced in the coming weeks.
