Oregon, WI- Madison International Speedway officials have cancelled both events scheduled during the last weekend of April at ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’. The Open Practice on Saturday April 27 and Super Sunday Spring Street Drags on Sunday April 28 have both fallen victim to a late season snow storm predicted to sweep through the area, neither event will be rescheduled. The 2019 season will now officially kick-off with the running of the $10,000 to win Joe Shear Classic 200 on Sunday afternoon May 5 featuring the ARCA Midwest Tour.

“With 5-7 inches of snow predicted Saturday, coupled with temperatures in the mid-20’s Sunday morning, Angie and I felt it was in everyone’s best interest to cancel these events and look towards the future.” Stated Gregg McKarns, who along with his wife Angie own and operate MIS. “We are going to try to tack an extra hour of practice on for the Joe Shear Classic teams next Saturday, have a great 200 lapper on Sunday May 5 and then the Street Drags will be back in action on Thursday May 9.” Madison International Speedway is located at 1122 Sunrise Road in Oregon, WI, just south of Highway 138.
