Oregon, WI- What has been classified as an ‘Open Wave of Precipitation’ has set up over Madison International Speedway and is not expected to depart until this evening, forcing the cancelation of the May 20 racing activities at ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile.’ Opening Night Double Features will now be scheduled for next Friday night May 27 with each NASCAR Late Model feature paying $1,000 to win courtesy of Trace My Space and The Visit Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

“Precipitation patterns like this are always tough. The free weather apps everyone has on their phones has a tough time with these, and are likely why I have lost most of my hair over the last twenty years. We utilize a weather service that allows us to chat with meteorologists and they are predicting that this moisture will not move out of here until right around race time, not allowing enough time to dry the track, practice, qualify and complete the features before our curfew.” Noted a damp Speedway co-owner Gregg McKarns. “The drivers want to race, we want to race, the fans want to see racing, Angie and I are hoping that next week will allow that to happen.” Next week will feature the popular Busch Light night, with 2 cans of Busch Light for $3.

The May 27 racing card will feature Double Features for the NASCAR Late Models, Dave’s White Rock MISfitz, Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits and Roto Rooter 6shooters. Pit Gates open at 3:30pm, Practice starts at 5pm, Spectator Gates open at 6pm with qualifying at 6:15pm and racing begins at 7:30pm. Madison International Speedway is located at 1122 Sunrise Rd, between Oregon and Stoughton just south of Highway 138.
