Sam Bartus
Sam Bartus, the man who built the half-mile at Madison in 1969 and owned and operated the track for many years, passed away on Sunday at the age of 93. Bartus is a member of our first Hall of Fame class, and recently returned to MIS for the season opener with his friend Phil Bickley. Bartus was involved in many tracks in the upper Midwest and much of what we enjoy today can be traced back to his vision for local racing.
