Mitchell Berg and Blaise Watters each won features tonight in the HSRA.
Mitchell Berg won the first 15 lap feature for the HSRA. It was his second career feature win at Madison.
Jacob Mathison took the early lead over Elliott Hawkins. Powering his way up to race for second was Mitchell Berg who took the second spot on lap 4. On lap 5 Berg pulled to the outside of Mathison and the two ran side by side with Hawkins close behind in third. Berg eventually was able to take the lead on lap 11 with Mathison, Hawkins, and Blaise Watters still in pursuit. Berg hung on for the win with Mathison edging out Watters for second by .001 second.
“This was great,” said Berg who is representing Melrose-Mindoro High School near LaCrosse.
Mitchell Berg edged Blaise Watters for the win in the second 15 lap feature for the HSRA only to have his car disqualified during post-race inspection.
Jackson Martindale brought the field to the green flag, but it was Chance Lounsbury who took the early lead with Blaise Watters taking the top spot on lap 2. On lap 3 Elliott Hawkins passed Lounsbury for second with Mitchell Berg moving to third. On lap 6 Berg moved into second place and began cutting into Watters’ lead. With five laps to go Berg moved to the outside of Watters with a lapped car just ahead. Watters went to the inside, Berg to the outside with Watters able to maintain the lead.
But Berg battled back and took the lead on the final lap with Watters getting edged out at the stripe. Watters was credited with the win following post-race inspection.
