The McKarns family invites fans, drivers and teams to the annual Clean-Up Day at MIS this Saturday April 24. Starting at 8am, a variety of tasks to help whip ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ back into shape heading into the 2021 season will be accomplished. Teams arriving before 10am will receive free track time during that afternoon’s Open Practice from 1pm-4pm while others that helped will be treated to snacks and beverages while watching cars on-track for the first time this season.
All necessary tools and equipment will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring along anything they think may help. “It is always amazing what we get done.” Noted Angie McKarns, whose family owns and operates MIS. “Every year, we have a list of what needs to happen and we find tasks for everyone, its just a fun day that we always look forward to. We will even sample some new food items once practice gets going.” The Open Practice will utilize both the half mile and quarter mile ‘Ring of Fire’ tracks.
The next two Sundays are big events for MIS as the Super Sunday Spring Street Drags mark the official start of the season on Sunday afternoon April 25. Then on Sunday afternoon May 2, the $10,000 to Win Joe Shear Classic featuring the ARCA Midwest Tour Super Late Models will take center stage. Fans are reminded to save money by purchasing their Joe Shear Classic tickets in advance at www.misracing.com/tickets. Gathering restrictions have been loosened in Dane County, allowing MIS to fully open. For additional information visit www.misracing.com or call the speedway box office at 608-835-9700.
