MIS Releases 2013 Schedule

MIS Releases 2013 Schedule

by John Wells

Even though the calendar tells us it’s winter in Wisconsin, the upcoming racing season is just around the corner.  The racing schedule at MIS might look a little different in 2013, but that doesn’t mean there will be any shortage of action on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile and the Ring of Fire.

“We are going to a special event schedule for 2013,” said MIS Business / Marketing Manager Jason Tyler who is beginning his second season at the speedway.   “We have worked very hard to put together several super late model shows for the upcoming season.  The fans have told us they want to see more super late model racing at Madison.  Well, we have the answer they were seeking,” added Tyler.

The 2013 season will open on Sunday, May 5th with the ARCA Midwest Tour and the Joe Shear Classic.  “This has become a tradition at Madison and we are so honored to be able to host an event of this stature in memory of one of the greatest short track drivers not only at Madison but in the entire country,” said Tyler.

Last season MIS created the Triple Crown Challenge Series for the super late models with Nathan Haseleu picking up the first championship.  This season four events will be on the schedule for the Triple Crown Challenge Series all scheduled for Sunday afternoons.  The first race is slated for June 16th with the other dates set for July 14th, July 28th, and September 8th.  Teams will also be able to practice at MIS on the Saturdays prior to each of the races.

August will be a huge month at Madison as the ARCA Midwest Tour returns for their second event on Sunday, August 11th.  Joining the “Tour” will be the ARCA CRA Super Series that will be making their first ever appearance at MIS.  “This is going to be a huge day of racing at Madison as drivers from throughout the country will come here to battle it out,” said Tyler.

On Sunday, August 25th, the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards returns for the third straight season for the running of the Herr’s Live Life with Flavor 200.  “ARCA has a big following throughout the country and we are looking forward to another great race and are excited about seeing both the up and coming talent and veterans that this series is known for,” added Tyler.

Not all of the action at Madison will be taking place on Sunday afternoons as the annual Tribute to America Night will be under the lights on Friday, June 28th featuring the Big 8 Late Models.  The Big 8 Series is known for its high quality drivers / teams and competitive racing so fans can expect a big show at MIS.  Of course we will be honoring veterans and our country with our annual “Fireworks Extravaganza.”

Support divisions for all events with the exception of the ARCA Racing Series race on August 25th will be announced shortly.

Exciting tractor and truck pulling action is also on the scheduled for the infield pulling surface when the Badger State Tractor Pullers and Tri County Mini-Rods come to pull on Saturday, June 1st.  Badger State returned to Madison last year and the event was very well attended and this year’s pull will be even bigger and better.

Marketing and promotional opportunities are available for all events.  “We want to help area businesses promote their products and services and we have a variety of ways to accomplish those goals,” said Tyler.  If you have questions please contact Tyler at 608.513.9709.

Tyler summed it all up by saying, “We’ve made some big changes at the track and ask our fans and marketing partners both old and new to support racing at Madison.  It’s going to be a big year in 2013.”
