Oregon, WI – May 20, 2025 – Madison International Speedway (MIS) announced the creation of the Midwest Racecar Graveyard, a new attraction inspired by Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Racecar Graveyard at Dirty Mo Acres.

The Midwest Racecar Graveyard will celebrate the history Midwest Motorsports by showcasing retired and wrecked racecars from both asphalt and dirt short tracks. To be developed in the southern woods of Madison International Speedway, this display will honor the stories of drivers, teams, and memorable races, preserving the legacy of Wisconsin and Midwest racing.

In 2019, MIS owners Gregg and Angie McKarns, alongside fellow racing enthusiasts, transported Brian Holzhausen’s 1986 Ford Thunderbird to Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Racecar Graveyard in North Carolina. This experience sparked the vision for a similar tribute in Wisconsin.

Leading the project as curator is former Auto Racing Promoter of the Year Chuck Deery. With deep racing roots formed at both Rockford Speedway and La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, Deery will ensure each car’s story is told with authenticity and passion. “The Midwest Racecar Graveyard will bring the history of racing to life,” said Deery. “Brian Holzhausen’s car on display at Junior’s (Earnhardt) inspired us, and we’re excited to build a collection that honors the Midwest short tracks.”

The Midwest Racecar Graveyard will launch with a curated selection of vehicles and grow through donations from the racing community. Fans will be able to visit during various race events at ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile” free of charge.

Plans are currently underway for a Summer of 2026 Grand Opening. Cars will be void of all fluids. Those interested in donating a car to the Midwest Racecar Graveyard are encouraged to contact Deery at chuckdeeery@gmail.com
