Oregon, WI- Madison International Speedway owners Gregg and Angie McKarns announced the formation of a Competition Council for the NASCAR Sanctioned short track in Wisconsin today. The council, based on successful implementation of ideas and rules at other area tracks, will consist of representatives from each weekly division, officials, car builders, engine builders and various other short track racing individuals to set the path for rules and race procedures at the half and quarter mile paved ovals.

β€œIt is important to us that our teams have a means to communicate with us and have a way to implement their ideas, whether they are the Champion or a new comer to a division.” Stated Gregg McKarns. β€œI have always enjoyed the debates and more importantly the results of a Competition Council and am pleased to get this established here.” The first meeting of the Competition Council will be held on Thursday night December 1 at the MIS Office. Race teams will be emailed this week for their votes for those they would like to see on the council for 2017.

The 2017 Madison International Speedway Season will begin on Sunday afternoon May 7 when the ARCA Midwest Tour contests the Joe Shear Classic. Weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action will once take place of Friday nights, beginning May 19 featuring Late Models, Sportsman and Bandits. A complete 2017 will be released in February for all weekly and visiting divisions.
