Fans and Teams are invited out to the Madison International Speedway this Saturday for the annual “Track Clean-Up Day” from 8am until 2pm. 2015 saw over 30 people work together to make general improvements to ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’. This year in addition to the Clean-Up, drivers will take to the track for the first time in the 2016 calendar year, during an open practice session.

“Last year was great and this year should be even better.” Stated Speedway owner Angie McKarns. “We were able to get a lot accomplished including remodeling our main concession stand. There is always plenty to be done out here and we appreciate everyone pitching in.” Those planning to help are encouraged to wear sun screen and are welcome to bring any tools they feel may help the effort including drills, hammers, shovels and rakes. Projects this season include painting of buildings, fixing seating areas and general construction including installing a new beer stand and repairing victory lane. Water and food will be provided for all helpers.

New for 2016 is the addition of an open practice from 1pm until 4pm on Saturday. This will be the first time that cars will be on the track this season. As a sign of appreciation for their efforts, any team arriving by 10am to help with the track clean-up day will be given FREE track time and pit admission for the day. Teams unable to help can still practice but will be subject to the $15 member and $20 non-member pit admission fees.
