Lettow Classic Cancelled at MIS Due to Weather

Oregon, WI- With the high probability of severe weather and heavy rainfall currently forecasted by multiple weather sources, this Friday night’s (August 28) Howie Lettow Classic at Madison International Speedway has been canceled and is unable to be rescheduled for the 2020 season. The event which was to feature the ARCA Midwest Tour Super Late Models, Midwest Trucks and 602 Late Models was to be a Drive-In Racing event, utilizing the infield area of ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ to park vehicles. Any rain in the hours leading up to or during the event would not allow for infield parking, which is the only method the family owned and operated speedway is currently able to operate due to local health emergency orders. All advance parking pass purchases for the August 28 event will be automatically refunded.

“It is not a decision that we took lightly, but with the unfavorable forecast including heavy rain, we thought it was in everyone’s best interest to make this decision early.” stated Madison International Speedway and ARCA Midwest Tour President Gregg McKarns. “Our team did a tremendous job overcoming multiple obstacles and transformed our facility into something that was going to create memorable events. But it was not meant to be and we move onto the next events.”

All three divisions, the ARCA Midwest Tour, Midwest Trucks and 602 Late Models will race at Dells Raceway Park during the Joe Shear Classic 200 on Labor Day Weekend Saturday Night, September 5th at 6pm. The $10,000 to win, 200 lap contest will boast an entry list of top Super Late Model drivers from across the nation. Tickets are on sale now in advance at https://midwesttour.racing/tickets/ or can be purchased the day of the event at the DRP Ticket Gate.

Racing action resumes at MIS in September as the 50 acre facility located in rural Dane County will host the first ever 2.4 Hours of Le MIS Impact Survival Series Enduro on Sunday afternoon September 6 at 2pm, utilizing a ROVAL track design. Additionally, a Thursday Night Street Drag featuring over 20 racing brackets plus a Shine ‘N Show Contest is scheduled for Thursday September 10 at 7:30pm. The final race event of 2020 will take place the following night, Friday the 11th of September with the Ring of Fire Quarter Mile Mania featuring the Midwest Dash Series, Bandits, 6shooters, Legends, Bandoleros and a V-8 Run What Ya Brung event. All three September events are expected to have limited grandstand seating available, details will be announced in the coming days.

The McKarns family as well as the staff, race teams and sponsors of the ARCA Midwest Tour and Madison International Speedway thank you for your continued support throughout the 2020 season.
