Late Model Triple Crown Challenge Comes to MIS

MIS Announces Late Model Triple Crown Challenge

Track officials at Madison International Speedway have announced plans for a Late Model Triple Crown Challenge in 2012.

Three events will make up the Late Model Triple Crown Challenge: the season opener on Sunday, May 6th, the Big 8 Late Model event on Friday, June 29th, and the MIS Fall Classic on Saturday, September 22nd.

All of these events are non-points races for the weekly point championship at MIS.  A separate point system will be maintained with an overall champion crowned at the Fall Classic.

MIS General Manager / Promoter Dave Grueneberg explained the thought behind the Late Model Triple Crown Challenge.  “We want to encourage teams to run all three of these events at Madison.  We are working on a point system and rewards program for the top overall drivers.”

Of course, drivers do not have to compete in all three events in order to race.  “We realize that some guys might only be able to run one or two of the races and that’s fine.  For the guys who can run all three we’re adding some extra incentives,” added Grueneberg.

More information will be coming out regarding the Late Model Triple Crown Challenge.
