Goldade, DeLacy, and Rossier Also Winners

Jeremy Miller won the 30 lap feature for the NASCAR All American Whelen Late Models while Ryan Goldade (Sportsman), Brandon DeLacy (Bandits), and Rex Rossier (Vintage Cars) also took home checkered flags.

It’s Miller Time Once Again at MIS

Multi-time track champion Jeremy Miller won the 30 lap NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model feature tonight after taking the lead with two laps to go.

Kevin Knuese and Ryan Goldade brought the field of seventeen late models to the green flag with Goldade taking the lead going down the backstretch.  Goldade and Knuese set the pace for the field followed by Bobby Wilberg, Zack Riddle, and Miller.  On lap 7 Riddle slid by Wilberg for third and on lap 13 moved past Knuese for second.  One lap later Miller was up to third after passing Knuese.

Goldade continued to run out front with Riddle closing on him quickly.  It appeared like Riddle might have enough to take the lead several times, but each time he came up short.  On lap 27 both Miller and Knuese would overtake Riddle and with two laps to go Miller worked his way inside of Goldade to take the lead and race his way to victory lane.  Knuese was able to work his way past Goldade on the final lap to take runner-up honors.  Last week’s feature winner Dale Nottestad finished fourth with Riddle in fifth.

“Ryan seemed to be losing a little in three and four and we found our opportunity,” said Miller.

“It was a great win and a long week. We had to do a lot of work on the car and it paid off.”

Miller set fast time with a lap of 18.736 and won the First Supply Dash while heat wins went to Casey Johnson and Kevin Knuese.

Two in a Row for Ryan Goldade in Sportsman

For the second straight week, Ryan Goldade took home the checkered flag for the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman.

Johnny Robinson took the early lead holding off Rick Coppernoll for the first couple of circuits.  Goldade was up to fifth on lap three and pick up two more places on lap four.  On lap 6 he motored his way past Coppernoll for second and set his sights on Robinson.

On lap 8 Goldade dropped to the inside of Robinson coming out of turn one and made a successful pass coming out of turn two to take the lead.

On lap 14 Robert Hansberry took second place from Robinson and tried to close ground on Goldade who had a sizeable advantage.

A last lap charge by Hansberry made it close at the stripe but the night belonged to Goldade who took the checkered flag.  Rounding out the top five were Robinson, Matt Lundberg, and Mike Taylor.

“We were starting to lose power with two laps to go.  I’m not sure how we were able to hold on but we did,” said Goldade from victory lane.

Goldade set another new track record in qualifying with a lap of 19.914.  Hansberry won the First Supply Dash and a heat race with Robinson also picking up a heat win.

DeLacy King of the Ring Tonight

Brandon DeLacy edged Dan Snyder to pick up the win in the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits.

Rookie Chris Tolliver and Brian Paulson led the thirteen car Bandit field to the green flag with Tolliver holding the lead for one lap before David Schmidt took over the point.  On lap 3 DeLacy made his move around Schmidt coming out of turn four to take the lead.  One lap later, Snyder was right there to challenge DeLacy for the lead.

From there the two ran side by side the rest of the way weaving their way inside and outside of lapped traffic sometimes four wide.  Trading paint and the lead, the two Stoughton drivers battled all the way to the finish line with DeLacy taking the win by 0.094 seconds over Snyder.  Completing the top five were Nick Schmidt, David Schmidt, and Steve Dickson.

“This was the best race I’ve ever been in,” said a jubilant DeLacy from victory lane.  “I have to thank Dan for racing me clean the whole way.  It was a lot of fun.”

Snyder was quickest in qualifying with a lap of 15.095 while David Schmidt won the First Supply Dash and the heats going to Snyder and Joe DiMaggio.

Rex Rossier Rolls to Victory in the Vintage Series

Rex Rossier  in his 1976 Camaro won the Vintage Racing of Illinois fifteen lap feature.

Royce Rossier and Randy Lucas brought the thirteen car field to the green flag with Rossier jumping out to a commanding lead.  Pat Heaney worked his way up to second followed by Rex Rossier.

The Rossiers and Heaney quickly put some distance between themselves and the field with Heaney doing everything he could to get by Royce Rossier on the outside.  A spin by Heaney on lap 12 brought out the caution flag just after Rex Rossier had moved into second place.

From there it was all Rex Rossier who led the rest of the way to pick up the win.  Royce Rossier finished in second followed by Gene Pennington, Ken Hutchins, and Vince Haywood.

Heat races were won by Rex Rossier and Matt Ramer.

Racing continues at Madison International Speedway next Friday night (May 29th) with action in the Late Models, Sportsman, Bandits, and Six Shooters.  It will also be “Kids’ Night” with all kids eleven and under admitted free and there will be many kids events planned during the night including a candy scramble.  Practice begins at 5:00 with qualifying at 6:30 and racing at 7:30.  For more information check out the track website at misracing.com.
