It’s Too Quiet…Tractors and Trucks Coming to MIS

by John Wells

It’s eerily quiet at Madison International Speedway as the legendary racing facility switches to a special event schedule in 2013.  But things are about to change…

The sights and sounds of exciting tractor and truck pulling come to Madison on Saturday, June 1st in the form of the Badger State Tractor Pullers and Tri County Mini-Rods.

Three divisions (466 Hot Farm, Super Farm, and Pro Street Diesel Trucks) represent Badger State and will be joined by a full field of Tri County Mini-Rods.

So what are 466 Hot Farm and Super Farm tractors?

The 466 Hot Farm tractors are 9,500 pound tractors that are allowed to run one limied size turbo charger of 3″ inlet / 3″ outlet.  They are limited to 466 cubic inches maximum with orginal equipment block, cylinder head, intake and exhaust manifolds.  Diesel fuel only with an inline P-Pump injection pump with a 20.8 x 38 tires with unlimited RPMs.

Super Farm tractors are 9,300 pounds that also run one limited turbo charger with an intercooler to help produce anywhere from 1200 to 1400 horse power.  These tractors run 640 cubic inches maximum with original equipment block, cylinder head, and exhaust manifold.  A custom intake manifold is allowed along with gas or diesel fuel.  The class runs 24.5 x 32.5 tire limit.

The Tri County Mini Rods will keep you on the edge of your seat with their high energy.  Even though they look smaller than their Badger State counterparts, the pack a lot of energy and horsepower.
