It’s Time for Fireworks at MIS

This Friday night (August 31st) at Madison International Speedway marks the return of the local “Gods of Thunder” as the skies will light up over southern Dane County when ThunderCat presents our annual Fireworks Extravaganza.

Originally scheduled for late June and postponed due to excessively dry conditions, the fireworks display will be “better than ever” according to MIS Business and Marketing Manager Jason Tyler.  He added, “We rescheduled this event from June so it’s not on the original schedule.  Please help us spread the word because this is a “can’t miss” show.”

Two exciting racing divisions will be in action highlighted by Round 3 of the Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge Series and the Tribute to Tom Reffner.  Reffner, a two-time track champion at Madison and winner of over 50 features here, will be on hand to meet and greet the drivers and fans..  A strong field of super late model drivers is expected including the overall winnners of the first two events, Nathan Haseleu and Travis Sauter.

Joining the super lates will be the always competitive Mid American Stock Car Series who always put on a great show when they come to Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile.

Pit gates open at 3:30 with practice at 4:45, qualifying at 6:15 and racing to follow.  “Happy Hour” drink specials will take place from 5:00 – 6:30.  The fireworks program will follow racing.
