It’s a perfect week to support local racing at Madison International Speedway. Track officials are encouraging all fans to bring someone new to the races and expose them to the excitement of local short track racing.

It’s a Thursday / Friday double header with the July edition of the Thursday Night Street Drags and the Mid Season Championships for the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series on Friday night.

The Thursday Street Drag Tradition Continues

The monthly Thursday Night One on One Street Drags returns to Madison this Thursday night. This month marks the 25th event at Madison meaning there have been more than 6,000 passes dating back to our first event in 2016.

Over 15 brackets are on tap which means there’s an opportunity for just about any type of motorized vehicle from cars to trucks to motorcycles and everything in between. This experience is about having fun…if you’re too competitive this probably isn’t the place for you. Drivers compete in bracket racing in hopes of winning the coveted street drag plaque and win the Bumper to Bumper Race of Champions at the end of the night. The Shine n Show Contest will take place during intermission.

Pit passes or grandstand admission is just $10.00 plus it’s only $10.00 per bracket. Vehicles may enter more than one bracket, if eligible. Pit gates open at 6:00 with practice and grudge matches at 6:30 and the first bracket on the 300’ foot dragstrip starting at 7:30.

Mid Season Championships are Friday Night

See the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series this Friday night as they compete in the Mid-Season Championships featuring the NASCAR Late Models, Dave’s White Rock MISfitz, Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits along with the HSRA and a Faster Pastor race. It’s double features for all divisions with the Late Models once again competing for $1000 to win each of the features thanks to Pit Pay Pit Pass App and Dave’ White Rock.

Zack Riddle is the current pointer leader in the NASCAR Late Models with Bobby Wilberg, Shaun Scheel, Stephen Scheel, and Rusty Hansen rounding out the top five. Ray Hellenbrand shows the way in the MISfitz followed by Rick Coppernoll, Mason Hellenbrand, Mike Taylor and Tim Wondrash. In the Bandits it’s Nick Schmidt on top of the leader board followed by Bart Brockmann, Nick Newton, Trent Rueth, and Dave Schmidt.

The HSRA will be competing for the third time this season with previous winners Blaise Watters, Mitchell Berg, and Elliott Hawkins.

Pit gates open at 3:30 with practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15, and racing at 7:30. Adult admission is $15.00 / Seniors and Whelen Heroes $12.00 / Students 12-17 $8.00, Children 6-11 $5.00 and five and under free. A Family Pass is just $30.00 and includes two adult admissions and up to four students / children.

See you this week at Madison International Speedway where all roads lead to 1122 Sunrise Road just one mile south of Highway 138 two miles east of Oregon or four miles west of Stoughton.
