It’s a Big Week at Madison: Badgerland Challenge and Street Drags Take to the Track

Story Image

It’s a double-header of action at Madison this week with the Badgerland Challenge on Friday night and the second round of the One on One Street Drags in action on Thursday.

It’s Badgerland Challenge Time This Week at Madison

The Badgerland Challenge for Late Models and Sportsman is on tap this Friday night at Madison International Speedway. Bandits and six shooters also racing on the ring of fire.

See the best from Madison, Slinger, Jefferson and beyond battle it out on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile. Will the stars from Madison be able to hold off the invaders from the east as some of the best drivers from three tracks and beyond set their sights on a Badgerland Challenge win.

The race at Madison is a points race for weekly points plus separate points will be maintained for the three races with an overall winner crowned as well as a traveling trophy presented to the track with the highest overall finishers.

Dale Nottestad (Late Models) and Jason Thoma (Sportsman) won the races at Madison last year with Casey Johnson (Late Models) and Terry Wangsness (Sportsman) winning titles.

The Challenge will then travel to the Slinger Super Speedway on Sunday, July 17th before crowning a champion at Jefferson Speedway on August 20th.

Pit gates open at 3:30 with practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30.

Fans remember to take advantage of the great family pricing deals at the speedway.

Street Drags This Thursday Night

The One on One Street Drags are back on Thursday, June 9th. Our first event was very successful with over 70 vehicles taking their shot on the 300 foot drag strip. There’s a bracket for just about any vehicle so here’s your chance to get out and race. The bottom line is it’s all about having fun and racing for pride.

Pit gates will open at 6:00 with practice and “grudge” runs at 6:30 followed by bracket racing starting at 7:30. Pit passes are $10 and it’s $10 to enter a division…cars may enter more than one division provided they are eligible. A driver who has been defeated twice has an opportunity to “buy back” into the bracket for $10.

Spread the word and bring your friends to the One on One Street Drags and the Show and Shine Car Show. This is a perfect opportunity to challenge a family member, co-worker, friend or enemy in either a grudge match or bracket racing.

Friday Night Review

Congratulations to Jimmy McCune, Ryan Goldade, Brandon DeLacy, and Aaron Moyer for picking up feature wins this past Friday night before a great crowd on a night we were able to hold off the precipitation.

McCune topped a field of twelve Must See 410 Winged Sprint Cars with a mid-race pass of Jason Cox. All-time track record holder David Byrne had a strong run going before mechanical issues forced him to the infield. In the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman it was Ryan Goldade picking up his second win of the season by holding off Robert Hansberry Jr. Brandon DeLacy was declared the winner in the Roto Rooter Bandits following a disqualification, and Aaron Moyer won his 18th career feature at Madison in the Legends.
