It’s a Big Friday at Madison this Week

LiUNA Local 464 presents a big night of racing this Friday when the Big 8 Late Models, Mid Am Racing Series, Legends, and Bandoleros come to Madison for the second time this season. The night belongs to the kids as it’s free admission for those 11 and under plus our young fans will also be able to get on track with our annual “bike” races during intermission.

Looking Back
All four divisions raced in here in May with Randy Sargent (Big 8), Scott Gardner Jr. (Mid Am), Lincoln Cain (Legends), and Emily Billings (Bandoleros) the winners. For Sargent, Gardner Jr., and Billings it was their first career wins at Madison.

Big 8 at Madison: The series made their first appearance at Madison in 2005 with Tim Sauter getting the win. This race will be the 27th here with Jeremy Miller (5), Dale Nottestad (4), Michael Bilderback (2), Jon Reynolds Jr. (2), Ross Kenseth (2), Zack Riddle (2), Casey Johnson (1), Brady Liddle (1), Brian Hoppe (1), Austin Nason (1), Steve Rubeck (1), Tim Sauter (1), John Baumeister Jr. (1), and Ryan Carlson (1) and Randy Sargent (1) past winners. Track record for the series at Madison was set by Jeremy Miller (18.441) back in June of 2016.

Mid Am at Madison: The series dates back to 1997 at Madison when Jason Hicks took home the checkered flag. This event will be the 23rd at Madison. Past winners include Jeremy Spoonmore (4), Bill Prietzel (3), James Swan (3), Rick Redig-Tackman (2), Ron Vandermeir Jr. (1), Josh Nelms (1), Kenny Joosten (1), Jeremy Miller (1), Jason Hicks (1), Jonathan Eilen (1), Lyle Nowak (1), Jeff Holtz (1), Scott Gardner Jr. (1) and Jason Thoma (1). Track record is held be James Swan (19.166) established in June of 2006.

Legends at Madison: A weekly division at Madison from 2007-2014, this will be the 94th race at Madison. Bill Marcis won the first race back in the ‘90s’ while twenty-one different drivers have won feature races led by Aaron Moyer with 24 career wins. Cory Talaska holds the track record with a lap of 13.662 set in July of 2014.

Bandoleros at Madison: The first Bando race was in 2007 and this will be the 35th at Madison. Alex Hartwig has the most wins (6). Twenty-two different drivers have won feature races with twenty of those drivers still competing in various divisions throughout the region. Wesley Baumeister is the track record holder with a lap of 14.284 set last August.
