Improved Purse Structure Welcomed By Teams at Madison International Speedway

Oregon, WI- Last July, on a rainy Friday night, Madison International Speedway owners Gregg and Angie McKarns made an uncommon decision, they bumped the starting pay in the NASCAR Late Models. This past Thursday night, the family owned and operated facility released the new purse structure for Friday nights at ‘Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile’ which represented more than an 8% increase year to date.

The NASCAR Late Models will now pay $210 to start and $500 to win while the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman have had their nightly purse increase to $300 to win and $85 to start. Likewise, the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandit payout has been bumped up as well, remaining $200 to win but now paying $55 to start a feature event. Additionally, the Roto Rooter 6shooters were reminded that the driver is admitted at no charge for each of their 6 race nights, when presenting a legal car. “There is always a lot of emphasis placed on the winning money, all of these increases really concentrated on the starting money.” Stated Gregg McKarns. “If a driver has a bad night, they have a little more in their pocket to hopefully be able to make it back next week. With our two tire a night rule in the Late Models and one tire every other week in the Sportsman, the start money is going to cover those variable expenses for our teams.”

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season will begin at MIS on Friday night May 18th. Street Drags on Sunday April 29 and Thursday May 10 as well as the ARCA Midwest Tour Joe Shear Classic presented by SCAG Power Equipment on Sunday afternoon May 6 will begin action at the paved speedplant.
