Howie Lettow Classic Returns to Madison on July 24

The Howie Lettow Classic Bytec Dairyland 100 returns to Madison International Speedway on Friday, July 24th featuring the ASA Midwest Tour. The Midwest Truck Series will also be making their second appearance of the year.

This will be the 12th Howie Lettow Classic and 9th at Madison. Casey Johnson picked up his third Lettow win last year after winning in 2021 and 2022. Ty Majeski has two wins with Dalton Zehr, Austin Nason, Paul Shafer Jr., Erik Jones, Kyle Busch, and Travis Sauter also getting wins.

Pit gates open on July 24th at 1:00 PM with grandstands opening at 4:00 PM. Practice begins at 4:00 with qualifying at 6:15 with racing at 7:30.

Adult tickets are $25 ($20 in advance) / Seniors 62+ and Heroes $22 ($18 in advance), Students 12-17 $15 / Kids 6-11 $5 / Five and under Free. A “Family” ticket good for up to two adults and four students or kids is just $50.

This will be the second visit of the year by the ASA Midwest Tour with Austin Nason winning the Joe Shear Classic in May. Tristan Swanson won the Midwest Truck Series race.

Lettow was a highly respected crew chief who led eight different drivers to rookie of the year honors in the American Speed Association. Best known of that group is six-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson. Other drivers included Pat Schauer, Scott Hansen, Ken Lund, David Stremme, Ted Musgrave, Steve Holzhausen, Steve Carlson, and Ricky Johnson. Lettow won an ASA championship in 1996 as crew chief for Tony Raines.

He also won three straight championships from 2005-2007 in the ASA Late Model Challenge Series with Stephen Leicht, Kelly Bires, and Travis Dassow behind the wheel.

Lettow passed away in 2010 at the age of 62 following a battle with cancer.
