Gregg McKarns was announced as one of six nominees for the 2018 Racing Promotion Monthly’s Auto Racing Promoter of the Year. He, along with his wife Angie, own and operate Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI and the ARCA Midwest Tour Super Late Model Series.
This is the second year in a row that McKarns has been nominated for this prestigious honor.
“It is quite an honor to receive this award a second time,” McKarns said. “Many of the past regional and national recipients have mentored me throughout my career, I can’t thank them enough.”
The Racing Promotion Monthly’s Auto Racing Promoter of the Year award is short track racing’s most prestigious award and is voted by promoters. Voting is conducted in two phases with the first being a preliminary ballot in the newsletter nominates candidates in six regions.
McKarns received the most votes in Region Four, Northern Region, for the second year in a row.
He joins fellow nominees: Region One, Eastern Region: Lyle Devore, Albany-Saratoga (NY) Speedway; Region Two, Southeastern Region: Bill & Mayes Massey and Doug Stevens, Senoia (GA) Raceway; Region Three, Central Region: Tom Helfrich, Tri-State (IN) Speedway; Region Five, Great Plains Region: Toby Kruse, Marshalltown (IA) Speedway; Region Six, Southwest and Western Region: Adam Nelson, Meridian (ID) Speedway.
The Auto Racing Promoter of the Year will be announced during the 46th Annual RPM@Daytona Workshop at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, Daytona Beach, FL on February 11, 2019.
McKarns is staying busy during the off-season as he is getting prepared for the next Midwest Racers’ Expo & Auction on February 1-2 at the EAA The Spirit of Aviation in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The racing season will begin on Sunday, May 5th at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI with the Joe Shear Classic, the season opener for the ARCA Midwest Tour.
