Breaking News from MIS: Friday Nights are Back in 2014

By John Wells

The Friday night lights will be back on at Madison International Speedway in 2014!

Track owner Terry Kunes and General Manager Dave Grueneberg have announced that Friday night racing will return to MIS next season.  Tentative plans are for as many as fourteen Friday night shows to be on the schedule in addition to several special events.

“We need to get back to the weekly show and the Friday night tradition,” said Kunes.  “We will still have some great special events, but the majority of our racing will be done on Friday evenings.”

Highlighting the weekly racing program will be the super late models.  “This is what the fans have asked for and this is what the big track is all about,” said MIS General Manager Dave Grueneberg.  “The rules will be pretty similar to what we are running now in our super late model program.”

As for support divisions, Grueneberg added, “We are looking at several possibilities for next season at this time, but they won’t necessarily run each week.  We may look at some type of rotation so teams can get one race off per month, but nothing is finalized.”

“We did something new this season and want to thank all of the teams and fans who have supported what we tried to do.  But it’s time to go back to our roots here and have some fun on Friday nights,” said Kunes.

It definitely won’t be quiet in the countryside around MIS on Friday nights in 2014.  Stay tuned for more updates.
