Story Image

It’s the Pepsi Season Opener at Madison International Speedway this Friday night with Whelen All American Series NASCAR Late Models, Sportsman, and Bandits all in action. The first 1,000 fans will also receive a free Pepsi Racing poster.

This is the second year under the NASCAR sanction at Madison with weekly racing continuing every Friday night (except July 1) until September 2nd. This means MIS will be your destination of choice each and every Friday night this spring and summer. Pit gates for this Friday open at 2:30 with practice at 4:00, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30.

A very competitive field of weekly racers will take to Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile and the Ring of Fire this season as they not only battle it out for a track championship but also possible state and national racing honors as part of the NASCAR Hometrack program. Champions crowned in 2015 included Zack Riddle (Late Models), Ryan Goldade (Sportsman), and Dan Snyder (Bandits).

Fans will notice many improvements and additions around the speedway including the new Capital Speedway Slot Car Club featuring the best slot car racing in the region. The very popular “Family Pricing” initiative returns in 2016 too along with the Whelen Hero Discount for all public safety employees and veterans who can save $2 off regular admission.

New items at the concession stand in 2016 include a bacon wrapped hotdog known as the Mad Dog and the Buffalo Fries. Both items were very big sellers at the Joe Shear Classic and are a “must have” when you come to MIS.

See you this Friday night at Madison for the weekly racing season opener.

Note to Race Teams: An open practice will take place on Thursday, May 12th from 5-8 PM with pit passes set at $15 for members / $20 for non-members.

One on One Street Drags Debut on May 19th

The debut of One on One Street Drags on a 300 foot drag strip on the front stretch will take place on Thursday, May 19th. Five racing events are on the schedule from May to September with the primary purpose being to have fun.

Over a dozen different types of divisions will be featured so rest assured that there’s a division for nearly all types of cars, trucks, vans, and motorcycles. Pit gates open at 6:00, practice and “grudge runs” at 6:30 with bracket racing beginning at 7:30. A “Shine and Show” car contest will also take place during each of the Thursday Night Street Drag events.
