Eric Niemi made the most of his Ring of Fire debut by picking up the win in the first 15 lap feature for the Roto Rooter 6Shooters while Josh Morris took home the win in the second feature.
Todd Klinger and Eric Niemi brought the field to the green flag in the first feature. Niemi took the early lead with Dylan Klinger up to second and Justin Tayler up to third. Racing through the pack were Dan Bishop and Trevor Chilson who joined the top five. At the half-way mark the leaders had caught the tail end of the field with Niemi and Klinger maneuvering their way through the pack much to the approval of the crowd. Niemi was able to maintain the advantage with Tayler moving into second and Chilson to third. In the end Niemi was able to hold off Tayler for the win.
“That was awesome,” said Niemi.
In the second feature Sam Schulz and Matt Crowell led the field to green with Schulz jumping out to an early lead. Behind the leader Josh Morris and Todd Holerud were fighting it out for second. Josh Morris took the lead on lap 5 with Trevor Chilson moving up to second at the half-way mark with Justin Tayler in third. With five laps to go Morris was starting to lose some ground with Tayler and Chilson in hot pursuit. But he was able to maintain his lead over Tayler and capture the checkered flag.
From victory lane Morris noted that he had about a $500-600 investment in his car.
