It’s double features under the lights this Friday at Madison International Speedway. Racing action will take place in the NASCAR Late Models, Dave’s White Rock MISfitz, Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits, and the Roto Rooter 6Shooters.
Five weekly racing events have already taken place and the point races are starting to take shape in the Late Models, MISfitz, and Bandits. With double features on tap and 215 possible points for a clean sweep, the standings could see some major changes. No point standings are maintained for the 6Shooters.
Zack Riddle shows the way in the NASCAR Late Models followed in the top 5 by Bobby Wilberg, Shaun Scheel, Jacob Goede, and Pat Richgels. Riddle won championships in 2015 and 2018 while Wilberg took home titles in 2007, 2008, 2016, 2017, and 2019. Scheel, Goede, and Richgels are shooting for their first crowns at Madison. After five events no single driver has finished in the top five for each event and only Riddle and Richgels have finished in the top 10 in all events. Riddle has two feature wins while Goede, Wilberg, and Scheel all have won victory.
In the Dave’s White Rock MISfitz, Ray Hellenbrand is the current point leader followed closely by Rick Coppernoll (539-506). Mike Taylor, Colton Morgan, and Eric Adrian complete the top five. Taylor is the only driver to finish in the top five in all five events. Coppernoll has two feature wins while Hellenbrand, Morgan, and Landry Potter each have one.
Nick Schmidt is in search of his third straight track championship in the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits and is the current point leader just ahead of Jeremy Bredeson (531-517). Ronnie Osborne, Dave Schmidt, and Kevin Beyer round out the top five. Schmidt has two wins this season including this past Friday night with Bredeson, Dave Schmidt, and Osborne each having a win. Nick Newton was highest finisher for the “B” Bandits in their debut last Friday.
The 6Shooters are an eager group of drivers since they’ve been patiently waiting since June 16th to get back on the Ring of Fire.
The RA Heating and Air Conditioning Dash Series is scored separately with current leaders in their respective division being Riddle, Hellenbrand, and Osborne.
