Dan Snyder Holds Off Nick Schneider for MISfitz Win

Dan Snyder became the first repeat winner by holding off Nick Schneider in a thrilling finish in the 20 lap feature for the Dave’s White Rock MISfitz.

Rick Coppernoll and Tim Wondrash paced the field to the green flag. The pair raced side by side for the first 3 laps before Wondrash grabbed the top spot. Nick Schneider was up to second and pulled to the outside of the leader with Dave Edwards and Dan Snyder also in the mix. On lap 8, Schneider took the lead coming out of turn two with Dan Snyder racing side by side with Wondrash for second. Snyder took second on lap 11 and quickly dialed in Schneider and with seven laps to go were even at the line.

Schneider and Snyder continued to run side by side with Schneider getting the advantage with two laps to go. But Snyder wasn’t done as he moved to the inside of Schneider and took the lead after making contact coming out of turn three. From there Snyder was able to hold off Schneider to pick up the checkered flag. Edwards, Wondrash, and Mason Hellenbrand completed the top five.

The 8 lap heat races were won by Nick Schneider and Dan Snyder.

Kenny Storkson set fast time with a lap of 20.001 (89.996 mph). Storkson’s time was a new track record since it was only 0.001 seconds from the breakout time.

The Fans Love Gracie Flanagan

Gracie Flanagan took the early lead and never looked back as she won the 15 lap feature for the Finishline Towing High School Racing Association in her first ever appearance at Madison.

Xander Weeks and Gracie Flanagan led the field to the green flag. Flanagan jumped out front with Charlie Thompson muscling his way up to second. Flanagan built a commanding lead over the field as Jackson Martindale and Thompson were fighting it out for second with Martindale getting the advantage.

On lap 10, Thompson got second back from Martindale but was almost half a lap behind Flanagan who cruised the rest of the way to victory lane.

“It feels great. I would like to thank all of my sponsors for getting me here,” said Flanagan who received a large ovation from the crowd. She also won a special prize package and Kwik Trip Gift Card from the Wisconsin Army National Guard.

Winner of the 8 lap heat race was Charlie Thompson. The HSRA competes for series points as well as a Madison track championship.

Waylon Robinson Tops the Hobby Stocks

Robinson won the 25 lap feature for the Hobby Stocks in his first ever appearance at Madison in this division. Although they only race twice a year, the Hobby Stocks have a long history at Madison dating back to 1968 and unofficially this was the 259th race.

Elliot Hawkins and Korey Bengsch brought the field to the green flag. Bengsch took the early lead with Shane Strothman up to second on lap 2. Waylon Robinson moved into third on lap 3 and started to chase down Strothman. On lap 7 Robinson took over the second spot with Riedner moving into third on lap later. On lap 10 Riedner was side by side with Bengsch and would take the lead on the next lap. Robinson powered his way into second and was quickly up to challenge for the lead.

With ten laps to go, Riedner and Robinson were side by side with Riedner on the inside and Robinson on the outside. On lap 18 Robinson pulled to the inside of Riedner coming into turn one and made contact with him on his way to taking the top spot.

From there it was all Robinson who cruised to victory lane followed by Riedner, Strothman, Bengsch, and Terry Wagsness.

“I have so many people to thank,” said Robinson who was in victory lane for the first time at Madison after just finishing up his first year of high school.

The 8 lap heat race was won by Scott Riedner.

Fast qualifier was Waylon Robinson with a lap of 13.959 (64.475 mph) which set a new track record for the division.
