Casey Johnson Wins Two at Madison

Nick Schneider and Brandon Liddle Also Winners

Casey Johnson won both 38 lap features for the Late Models and picked up over $3500 for his efforts as part of Fast Cars and Freedom Night at Madison. In the Dave’s White Rock MISfitz, Nick Schneider and Brandon Liddle each took home a checkered flag in the two 20 lap main events.

Capping off the evening was an absolutely amazing aerial and ground fireworks display compliments of Skyline Fireworks which resulted in many fans leaving the speedway at the end of the night saying, “That was the best show we’ve seen.”

Casey Johnson Back in Victory Lane at Madison

Johnson got his night off to a great start by picking up the checkered flag in the first 38 lap feature and earning $1776 for doing so.

The eighteen car field came to the green flag paced by Jerry Mueller and Bobby Wilberg. On the second lap Wilberg broke away from Mueller to take the early advantage. Brady Liddle, Morgan Schissel, and Shaun Scheel joined the top five. On lap 8 Liddle moved inside of Mueller for second only to lose that spot back to Mueller one lap later. On lap 10 Scheel powered his way past Liddle and began hunting down Mueller for second.

Two laps later Scheel moved into second while hard charging Casey Johnson moved into the top five. Johnson was able to take the fourth spot one lap later. On lap 15 he passed Mueller for third with Brent Edmunds now challenging Mueller for fourth.

Wilberg continued to show the way out front, but with eighteen laps to go Scheel had cut into his lead with Johnson closing on the leaders. On lap 20 Scheel pulled to the inside of Wilberg to take the lead. On lap 23 Scheel’s lead, now over Johnson, was down to a car length with Wilberg seven lengths behind in third.

Johnson took the top spot on lap 25 going to the inside of Scheel coming out of turn two. Edmunds took the third spot from Wilberg on lap 27 with Jake Gille doing the same one lap later. Johnson increased his lead to eight car lengths with ten laps to go.

With five laps to go the top five had checked away from the field with Johnson’s now nearly twelve lengths over Scheel. Johnson cruised the rest of the way to victory lane followed by Scheel, Edmunds, Gille, and Wilberg.

“We had a really good car and it’s been sitting in the barn for a few years,” said Johnson.

Johnson Does It Again

Johnson won the second 38 lap feature. The two wins give him five Late Model wins in his career at Madison.

A couple of sixteen year olds, Blake Nottestad and Carter Nilson, led the field to the green. Due to spins back in the pack bringing out the caution flag, the third time was a charm with Nilson gaining the early advantage from the outside. On the second lap, Jake Gille was quickly up to third. Behind Gille, Jerry Mueller and Shaun Scheel were battling it out for fourth with Scheel gaining the position with Ryan Goldade joining the top five one lap later.

On lap 8 Gille raced past Nottestad for second and then on lap 11 passed Nilson for the lead. Casey Johnson passed Goldade for fifth on lap 12. Out front Gille opened up a nearly ten length lead over Nilson. Johnson passed Scheel for the fourth spot on lap 15 and started to go to work on Nottestad for third and on lap 17 would take the third. On lap 19 Johnson flew by Nilson for second but had a lot of ground to cover in order to catch Gille.

Gille continued to increase his lead over Johnson and had a 2.3 second advantage over Johnson with 12 laps to go. But disaster struck for Gille with eight laps to go when his car slowed on the backstretch bringing out the caution flag and ending his night prematurely.

The caution flag set up a double file restart. Johnson chose the inside with Nilson electing to follow Johnson which meant Scheel would line up on the outside or row one with Edmunds outside of row two. Johnson vaulted back out to the lead with Scheel running second followed by Edmunds, Nilson, and Bobby Wilberg.

But Johnson wasted no time and stepped away from the field. Behind the leader, Edmunds passed Scheel for second, but nobody was going to catch Johnson. Edmunds finished second followed by Scheel, Nilson, and Wilberg.

“It’s a lot of fun. Thanks to Gregg and Angie for adding money to the purse tonight and to all the fans for coming out,” said Johnson. This is the second year in a row that the same driver won both features as Brent Edmunds did the same in 2025.

Brent Edmunds set fast time with 18.735 (96.077 mph).

Nick Schneider Picks Up Third Win of 2026

For the third time this season, Schneider picked up the win in the 20 lap feature for the Dave’s White Rock MISfitz.

Kenny Storkson and Rick Coppernoll led the field to the green flag. Storkson jumped out to the early advantage followed by Mike Beyer, Dave Edwards, and Coppernoll. On lap 3 a spin in turn four brought out the first caution flag sending the damaged car of Dan Snyder to the pits. Storkson led the field back to green. Beyer pulled to the outside of Storkson on lap 4 with Nick Schneider a close third. On lap 7 Schneider dropped to the low side of the track going into turn one to find the room to take the lead.

At the half-way mark it was Schneider and Storkson breaking away from Beyer, Kyle Wahlgren, and Brian Ulrich. Schneider increased his lead to four cars lengths with five laps to go with a heated battle taking place behind them for third. Schneider was able to hang on to the lead after working past lapped traffic on the final lap to pick up the win. Brian Ulrich finished in third followed by Beyer and Brandon Liddle.

“I love this class of racing. It’s so much fun,” said Schneider who also took time to thank his sponsors. He now has five career wins in the division.

Brandon Liddle Becomes a First Time Winner at Madison

Liddle won the 20 lap feature for the Dave’s White Rock MISfitz and as a result became a first-time winner at Madison

Two-time track champion Dave Edwards and Rick Coppernoll led the field to the green flag in the second feature. Coppernoll had a slight lead over Edwards after the first lap with Brandon Liddle and Scott Getzloff running third and forth. On lap 3 Nick Schneider was up to fourth followed by Brian Ulrich.

Coppernoll continued to lead, but on lap 10 Liddle worked his way past to take the lead. Schneider moved to second on lap 13. Liddle was doing everything he could to keep Schneider at bay, but Schneider was able to make the pass on lap 15 to take the lead. All of a sudden Waylon Robinson was up to challenge for the lead but spun on the backstretch bringing out the caution flag with five laps to go and setting up a double file restart.

Liddle lined up on the inside with Schneider taking the outside. Liddle jumped out front and stayed ahead of Schneider. On the final lap Liddle continued to lead with Schneider making contact coming out of turn four to take the apparent win. However, Schneider had broken out thus awarding the win to Liddle. Kenny Storkson was second followed by Coppernoll, Waylon Robinson, and Kyle Wahlgren.

As a first time winner, the second generation driver, Liddle, was joined in victory lane by track owner Gregg McKarns.

Fast time was set by Dan Snyder with a lap of 20.106 (89.526 mph).
