Blake Nottestad Picks Up First Late Model Win at Madison

Story Image

Blake Nottestad took home his first checkered flag at Madison by winning the first 30 lap feature for the Late Models on a night where seven different drivers claimed victories. But Nottestad wasn’t alone as both Christopher Webb and Gracie Flanagan (6Shooters) along with Waylon Robinson (MISfitz) also earned their first Madison checkered flags in their respective divisions. Brent Edmunds (Late Models), Nick Schneider (MISfitz), and Nick Schmidt (Bandits) were also winners with Schmidt picking up two.

Nottestad and Edmunds Best of the Late Models

Blake Nottestad and Brent Edmunds each wheeled their way to victory lane in the Late Models division.

Nottestad took over the lead on lap 14 after Ryan Goldade and Brent Edmunds made contact in turns three and four causing the caution flag to come out and sending both drivers to the rear of the field for their involvement.

The third generation driver from Cambridge was then able to lead the field of fifteen cars the rest of the way on his way to victory lane despite a late race challenge from Stephen Scheel. Jake Gille finished third with Carter Nilson and Bobby Wilberg earning top five finishes.

Nottestad joins his dad, Dale, and grandfather, Randy, in winning features at Madison.

Brent Edmunds got his first win of the 2026 season by taking the trip to victory lane in the second 30 lap feature. Edmunds now has six feature wins in his career at Madison.

Edmunds took the lead from fast qualifier Morgan Schissel on lap four. By lap 7, defending champion Shaun Scheel had raced his way all the way up to second from his eighth starting position.

But this race belonged to Edmunds who led the next twenty six laps to punch his ticket to victory lane. Finishing behind the winner was Shaun Scheel followed by Schissel, Jake Gille, and Stephen Scheel.

In his first time out at Madison this season, Schissel set fast time with a lap of 19.068.

MISfitz Wins Go to Robinson and Schneider

Waylon Robinson and Nick Schneider each picked up victories in the main events for the Dave’s White Rock MISfitz.

Robinson becomes yet another driver to claim wins on both the half-mile and “Ring of Fire” after holding off Wyatt Kraiss to win the first 20 lap feature. The pair battled side by side much to the delight of the fans with Robinson taking the lead with two laps to go and never looking back on his way to victory lane. Kraiss recorded his best ever finish at Madison but came up just short in his pursuit of his first checkered flag. Kenny Storkson, Nick Schneider, and Rick Coppernoll rounded out the top five.

Schneider notched his second win of the season and third overall in the MISfitz division by holding off the field in the second 20 lap event. He took the lead on lap three from Mike Beyer and then had to hold off his hard charging brother-in-law Kenny Storkson for the win. Waylon Robinson, who started ninth, took home third place with two-time track champion Dave Edwards finishing fourth and 2025 Rookie of the Year Kyle Wahlgren in fifth.

A lap of 20.032 (89.856 mph) set by Mike Beyer was good for fast time.

Webb and Flanagan are Winners on the Ring of Fire

Christopher Webb and Gracie Flanagan both entered their names in the Madison record book by winning their first feature events for the Roto Rooter 6Shooters.

After being forced to pass on the outside, Webb worked his way past Nick Lorenz with three laps to go to earn the checkered flag. Lorenz finished second followed by Noah Karr, Randy Grancorvitz, and Ken Morris.

Flanagan, who also has three HSRA wins to her credit, made the most of her first appearance at Madison in 2026 by passing Ozzie Osborne on lap three and leading the rest of the way. Always a crowd favorite, Flanagan drew the loudest ovation of the night from the fans. Osborne finished second followed by Joshua Zacharias, two-time champion Dylan Klnger, and Grancorvitz.

The 6Shooters do not qualify.

A Clean Sweep for Nick Schmidt

Nick Schmidt continued his dominance on the Ring of Fire by picking up a clean sweep in the visiting Bandits division. The wins give him a total of 29 on the “Ring of Fire” where he is the all-time leader in wins.

In the first race, Schmidt passed Kyle Riedner at the half-way point and then held off Jordan Goecks to garner the win. Dylan Roberts, Soren Johnson, and Ryan Oetzel completed the top five.

The second race was much the same with Schmidt passing Greg Oliver on the second lap and quickly running away from the field all the way to victory lane. Glen Bush Jr. finished second followed by Roberts, Oetzel, and Johnson.

Schmidt turned the fastest lap in qualifying at 14.973 (60.108 mph).

Next week is a big night here at Madison with the return of the Monster Trucks plus racing action in the Dave’s White Rock MISfitz, Midwest Dash Series, and the Slater Racing Legends. Free admission for all kids 11 and under plus there will be a $1000 coin scramble for the young fans presented by One Community Bank.
