Big Wheel Races “Relay” Fun for the Kids at MIS

Big Wheels Races are a Big Deal for Kids at MIS

Twenty-four young racing fans took part in the Quest Industrial Kids’ Club Big Wheel Races at Madison International Speedway on Friday night. But this event took on a new twist when it was organized to be a relay event around the “Ring of Fire” in the spirit of the Olympics.

Children were divided into teams of four with exchange zones set up around the quarter mile.  Kids were divided into two groups based on age with preliminary events run during pre-race ceremonies and the finals during intermission later in the night.

“This was really cool,” said one of the young fans after he had completed the final leg of the race.  In fact, one young competitor enjoyed the race so much he continued onto Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile and kept right on pedaling towards the pits before being stopped by one of the MIS Angels.

One of the parents commented, “It’s really great how MIS does different things for kids every week.  This is why we come here because my boys can’t wait to do things like this.”

Several of the young drivers were also interviewed and were able to introduce themselves to the crowd.

Following the race all of the competitors gathered in Rick’s Lawn and Garden Victory Lane for a group picture taken by TJ Harron.  “I feel like one of the drivers getting my picture taken here,” said another young competitor.

The Quest Industrial Turn One Kids’ Club has provided a variety of activities for young fans including a pedal tractor pull, frisbee toss, face painting, coloring contests, and more.

On Friday, August 17th there will be a bike giveaway plus all of the kids will have an opportunity to ride around Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile in a bus compliments of Wayne Ace Bus and Limo Service.
