Big 8 Late Models Return to Madison this Friday Night

It’s going to be a “Big” Friday night this week when the Big 8 Late Models along with the 602 Outlaw Late Models, Legends, and Bandoleros all come to Madison. Here’s a detailed look at this “can’t miss” event.

Where: Madison International Speedway

Racing Divisions: Big 8 Late Models, 602 Outlaw Late Models, Legends, Bandoleros

Times: Pit Gates 2:30 /Grandstands 6:00 PM / Practice 4:45 / Qualifying 6:15 / Opening Ceremonies 7:25 / Racing 7:30

Prices: $20 for Adults / $18 for Seniors 62+ and Heroes / $10 for Students (12-17) / $5 for Kids 6-11 / $40 for a Family Ticket which includes admission for up to two adults and four students / kids

Promotion: A free “Hot Wheels” car for the first 500 kids

Big 8 at Madison: Randy Sargent and Michael Bilderback each won a Big 8 race at Madison in 2025.

Jeremy Miller won the series opener in April at the Grundy County Speedway. Michael Bilderback finished second followed by Alex Braseth, Eddie Hoffman, and Jon Reynolds Jr.

The series made its first appearance in June of 2005 when Tim Sauter captured the flag in the 38 lap main event. This year’s 48 lap feature will be the 28th here at Madison.

Miller has the most wins at Madison with five while Dale Nottestad (4), Bilderback (3), Reynolds Jr. (2), Ross Kenseth (2), and Zack Riddle (2) drivers with more than one victory. Other Madison winners include Sargent, Casey Johnson, Austin Nason, Steve Rubeck, John Baumeister Jr., Ryan Carlson, Brian Hoppe, Brady Liddle, and Sauter.

602 Outlaw Late Models at Madison: Some of our 602 Late Models may look familiar since they are eligible to run with our Dave’s White Rock MISfitz division. This will be the 9th “602”event at Madison with past winners including Bobby Wilberg (3) as well as Tom Carlson, Jeff Steenbergen, Hunter Stenson, Dennis Prunty, and Adam Peschek each with one victory. Carlson owns the track record with a lap of 18.682 set in May of 2022.

Legends: This will be the 95th Legends race at Madison dating back to 1996 when Bill Marcis became the first winner. Lincoln Cain swept both Legends events last year and enters this season on a three race win streak at Madison. The track record on the Ring of Fire is 13.662 set by Cory Talaska back in 2014. Legends track champions were crowned at Madison from 2007-2014 and this year we will once again be recognizing a divisional champion. Twenty-two different drivers have won features at Madison.

Bandoleros: This will be the 36th Bandoleros race at Madison. Last year’s winners were Emily Billings and Bentley Thompson. Wesley Baumeister holds the track record with a lap of 14.284 set during group qualifying in August of 2024. Eighteen different drivers have won Bandolero events at Madison.

Last Friday at Madison: It was a great night for racing with nine feature races on the schedule. Michael Bilderback and Bobby Wilberg (Late Models), Kenny Storkson and Nick Schneider (MISfitz), Joshua Zacharias and Dan Bishop (6Shooters), RJ Nicholson 2X (Hobby Stocks) and Jeff Steenbergen (Crown Vics) all picked up wins.

Next Week (May 29th) at Madison: Dr. Pepper 2 for 1 Night with Double features for the Late Models, Dave’s White Rock MISfitz, Roto Rooter 6Shooters, and the visiting Bandits. 2 for 1 admission with coupon.
