
It’s going to be a “Big” Friday night this week when the Big 8 Late Models along with the Mid Am Racing Series, Legends, and Bandoleros all come to Madison. Once again this year’s Big 8 race will be 48 laps…the longest Late Model race of the season at Madison. Drivers from multiple states will be here to battle it out on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile and the legendary “Ring of Fire.”
Driver lists for Big 8 and Mid Am will be posted by each series during the week.

Big 8 at Madison: Michael Bilderback won the series opener on April 26th at the Grundy County Speedway. He also won last year’s Big 8 event at Madison.
The series made its first appearance in June of 2005 when Tim Sauter captured the flag in the 38 lap main event. This year’s 48 lap feature will be the 26th here at Madison. Jeremy Miller has the most wins at Madison with 5 while Nottestad (4), Reynolds Jr. (2), Ross Kenseth (2), Michael Bilderback (2) and Zack Riddle (2) the other drivers with more than one victory. Other Madison winners include Casey Johnson, Bilderback, Austin Nason, Steve Rubeck, John Baumeister Jr., Ryan Carlson, Brian Hoppe, and Brady Liddle.
Mid Am at Madison: Joshua Nelms won the Mid Am race last week at Hawkeye Downs while Mark Sontag Jr. captured the flag at Grundy County Speedway back in April.
The series made their first appearance here back in 1997 when Jason Hicks picked up the win. This will be the 21st race at Madison. Jeremy Spoonmore (4), Bill Prietzel (3), James Swan (3), and Rick Redig-Tackman (2) are multi-time winners. Ron Vandermeier Jr. won last year’s race.
Legends: This will be the 93rd Legends race at Madison dating back to 1996. Last year’s winner was Lincoln Cain. The track record on the Ring of Fire is 13.662 set by Cory Talaska back in 2014.
Bandoleros: This will be the 34th Bandoleros race at Madison. Last year’s winner was Axel Oldenhoff while Wesley Baumeister set a new track record with a lap of 14.284 during group qualifying.
Last Friday at Madison: Fans braved the late afternoon rain, 40 mph winds, and dropping temperature to see some exciting racing. Congratulations to our feature winners: Shaun Scheel and Zack Riddle (Late Models), Dan Snyder x2 (MISfitz), Dylan Klinger and Jacob Mathison (6Shooters), and Waylon Robinson and Shane Strothman (Hobby Stocks). Riddle’s win was his 40th “Late Model” win at Madison. It was the first career wins in their respective divisions at Madison for Mathison and Strothman.
