Drivers from across the country will be making their way to the peaceful countryside of rural Dane County when the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards returns for their tenth appearance at Madison for the running of the Herr’s Potato Chips 200.
That’s right…200 laps of two and three wide racing with some of the top young stars in America racing on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile. Add to it live pit stops and all of the ingredients are in place for an awesome fan experience.
The series made three visits in the early 1970’s before coming back to Madison in 2011. The series brings with it a rich tradition that dates back to 1953 which ironically was the same year racing began at Madison.
But what the series also comes to the table with is a preview of the future stars of racing.
For example, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers Ty Dillon (2011), Chris Buescher (2011-2012), Alex Bowman (2011), Erik Jones (2012), and Chase Elliott (2012) all made the trip to Madison as part of the ARCA Racing Series. NASCAR XFinity and Camping World Truck Series drivers including Grant Enfinger, Brennan Poole, Kyle Benjamin, Brandon Jones, Austin Wayne Self, Matt Tifft, Ben Rhodes, and Chase Briscoe have all raced at Madison since 2011.
This year Eagle River, Wisconsin, driver Natalie Decker returns to Madison racing for Venturini Motorsports. Decker has raced at Madison in both Super Late Model and Midwest Trucks divisions. She is currently in 7th place in the points chase.
Sheldon Creed of Alpine, California, is the current points leader. Rounding out the top five are Zane Smith, Riley Herbst, Travis Braden, and Chase Purdy.
The one day event will begin with ARCA practice from 1:15 – 3:00 PM and qualifying at 5:00. Grandstands will open at 4:30 PM. Tickets will be on sale at the gate on the day of the race. Following qualifying will be an on-track autograph session with racing beginning at 8:00 PM. See live pit stops on the front stretch along with some of the most talented drivers battling it out on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile. Last year Maine driver Austin Theriault took home the checkered flag.
Discounted tickets for the Friday, June 15 Herr’s Potato Chips 200 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards are now on sale at 27 Menards stores across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
The offer for discounted tickets will remain in place up through June 14. Tickets purchased at participating Menards stores are available for just $20, which is $10 off the raceday gate price of $30. Kids 6 – 11 are just $10 at the track gate. Kids 5 and under are free.
