Exciting racing action continues this Friday night (June 6th) at Madison International Speedway when the Big 8 Style Late Models join the racing program. The Late Model event will pay $1000 to the winner and $250 to start. Drivers from throughout the area are expected to battle it out for top honors. This is one of three late model events at Madison in 2014 in addition to the Big 8 Late Models who will be here on June 27th. Many regulars from the Big 8 circuit are expected at MIS on Friday night.
One of the drivers who had a strong run in last year’s Big 8 race at Madison and who is looking forward to his return is John DeAngelis. “Madison has always been one of my favorite tracks since 2011 when I first raced there and came out with a 5th and 6th place finish in 2 days. In 2012 it didn’t go so well, but 2013 was even better with a 2nd place finish after leading 44 of 48 laps. We will be coming back even stronger for the 2014 late model races.”
The Dave’s White Rock Sportsman, Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits, and Roto Rooter Legends will also be in action. Kody Hubred of Utica is the current point leader in the Sportsman division with Cory Talaska on top of the point standings in the Legends and sixteen year old Brandon DeLacy shows the way in the Bandits. The Sportsman have been very competitive in their two appearances so far in 2014. Several Legend drivers will be back in action on Friday with a field of at least twelve expected.
Pit gates open on Friday at 3:30 with practice at 4:45, qualifying at 6:00, and racing at 7:30. Adult tickets are $12.00 with Seniors (60+) and Students 12-17 at $10.00 and kids eleven and under free.
