It’s back to racing under the lights on Friday nights at Madison International Speedway in 2014.  Not only does the Friday night tradition return, but so does former track champion and NASCAR star Matt Kenseth.  Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming season at Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile.

WEEKLY RACING SCHEDULE

A full program of weekly racing is back in 2014 with the opener set for Friday, May 23rd.  A combination of five divisions will be in action this season with Super Late Models, Midwest Trucks, and Sportsman on the half-mile while the Bandits and Legends fight it out on the quarter mile.  Qualifying for the weekly racing program will begin at 6:30 with racing at 7:30.  The Friday night season will continue until Season Championship Night on August 29th.  Ticket prices are $12.00 for adults / $10.00 for students and seniors / free for kids eleven and under.  Special event pricing will apply for some Friday nights.

MATT KENSETH RETURNS JUNE 17TH

One of the biggest racing events in the Midwest in 2014 takes place on Tuesday, June 17th when Matt Kenseth returns to his roots to compete in the Colony Brands 100 lap Super Late Model event. Stay tuned for further updates as additional national and regional stars come to Madison. Tickets will be $20.00 for adults / $18.00 for students and seniors / $5.00 for kids eleven and under.

The season opener at Madison will be Sunday, May 4th when the ARCA Midwest Tour comes to town for the sixth annual Joe Shear Classic 100.  The event honors the memory of Shear who won track championships in 1973, 1974, 1980, and 1982 and picked up sixty-six feature wins.  Past winners of this event include Nathan Haseleu (2009), Steve Carlson (2010), Ross Kenseth (2011), Andrew Morrissey (2012) and Travis Sauter (2013). The high-flying super late models will be joined on the racing program by the Midwest Truck Tour.  Ticket prices are $15.00 for adults / $13.00 for students (12-17) and seniors (60+) / free for kids eleven and under.

SUPER LATE MODEL TRIPLE CROWN CHALLENGE

The Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge is back again for the third straight season with racing dates set for Friday nights on May 30th, July 11th, and August 8th.  Each event will be 100 laps.  Points for the Triple Crown Challenge will also be applied to the weekly racing point standings for the Super Late Models. Tickets for Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge nights will be $15.00 for adults / $13.00 for students and seniors / free for kids eleven and under.

Three Late Model events have been scheduled for June 6, August 1, and August 15th.  This will be a great opportunity for fans to see the top late model teams in the region.  Regular Friday night admission prices apply for the three nights the Late Models are in action.

The Big 8 Late Models will also be at Madison in 2014 when they visit on Friday, June 27th for Salute to America Night that will feature the area’s biggest and best fireworks display.  Grandstand admission for this event will be $15.00 for adults / $13.00 for students and seniors / free for kids eleven and under.

ARCA RACING SERIES PRESENTED BY MENARDS

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is back again in 2014 with the Madison 200 set for Sunday, August 24th.  Practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday, August 23rd.  Tickets are $25.00 on the day of show / $18.00 advanced purchase at MIS / $15.00 advanced purchase at area Menards.

TRACTOR PULL – MAY 31st

 MIS will also host a tractor and truck pull featuring the Badger State Tractor Pullers and Tri County Mini Rods on Saturday, May 31st on the infield pulling track.
