Racing and Booms this Friday Night at Madison

Story Image

It’s Salute to America Night at Madison International Speedway featuring the perfect combination for everyone…racing and fireworks.  Three divisions will be in action highlighted by the Big 8 Late Models who will joined on the racing program by the Great Northern Sportsman Series and the Midwest Dash Series.  But adding more to the excitement of the night will be the First Supply Fireworks Extravaganza masterfully orchestrated  by ThunderCat Fireworks, the local gods of thunder.  This is the area’s biggest and best aerial display that literally lights up the sky right above your head.

A big thanks to First Supply for making this Salute to American a truly memorable one.

The Big 8 Late Models will bring the best late model drivers in the Midwest to Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile for what has always proven to be an exciting 48 lap race.  Several drivers from Minnesota and other parts of Wisconsin will be venturing down the Interstate while others travel from Illinois to take on our local favorites in the Great Northern Sportsman Series.  The Midwest Dash Series will put a strong contingent of four cylinder cars on the half-mile.

Pit gates open at 3:30 with practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30.

Arrive early, get a good seat, and get set for a night of racing and booms…Madison style.

Friday Night Rewind

Congratulations to Friday’s feature winners Ty Majeski (Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge), Kevin Knuese (Club LaMark NASCAR Late Models), Robert Hansberry (Dave’s White Rock Sportsman) and Dave Edwards (Midwest Truck Series).  Majeski continued his hot streak at Madison after winning two of the three Challenge races in 2015 plus the season opening Joe Shear Classic in 2016.  Long-time Madison competitor Kevin Knuese picked up his first feature winning topping an outstanding twenty-one car field.  It was win number three for Hansberry who held off Johnny Robinson II while Dave Edwards earned truck win number one for his career in the Midwest Truck Series.  Full story available at our website misracing.com.

Williams Wins Montgomery Ward 200 for ARCA Racing Series

Josh Williams of Port Charlotte, Florida, took home the checkered flag in the Montgomery Ward Father’s Day 200 on Sunday.  It must have seemed a lot like home to Williams as temperatures on the sunny Sunday reached nearly 90 degrees meaning in-car temperatures likely hit 120 degrees plus.  Kyle Weatherman finished in second with Nicole Behar, Ty Majeski, and Tom Hessert completing the top 5.

A complete race story is available at arcaracing.com written by Don Radebaugh who has been at 421 consecutive ARCA shows.
