Ty Majeski Performs His Magic at Madison Once Again

Ty Majeski took home the checkered flag in Round One of the Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge at Madison International Speedway. Majeski, who will be competing in this weekend’s ARCA Racing Series event at Madison, has now won in four of his last five appearances at Madison. In 2015 he won two of the three Triple Crown events and picked up the win in the Joe Shear Classic for the ARCA Midwest Tour earlier this year.

Bobby Kendall and Andy Jones led the twenty car field to the green flag with Kendall getting the early advantage before the caution flag came out on the second lap when Dennis Prunty’s car made heavy contact with the wall in turn two. The red flag came out at this point as Prunty was transported to an area hospital for precautionary measures.

When the race restarted Kendall continued to lead before the car of Jones slowed coming down the front shoot bringing out the second caution of the race.

On the restart, Majeski, who started fifth, chose to line up on the outside of row two and powered his way past Kendall for the lead only to lose it to fast qualifier Austin Nason one lap later.

Nason was able to maintain his lead until lap 12 when Majeski pulled alongside and the two raced side by side until Majeski took the lead on lap 13 coming out of turn two.

Another caution and another good jump for Majeski kept him out front while Casey Johnson moved up to second ahead of Nason, Jeff Storm, and Jeremy Miller. By lap 20 Majeski’s lead had increased to six car lengths as Johnson did everything he could to keep up. The cars of Nason, Storm, and Miller were nose to tail fighting it out for third.

With Majeski sailing out front, the rest of the field was hoping for a caution and the yellow flag did wave on lap 35 for a spin. But once again Majeski mastered the restart and maintained his lead over Johnson and the rest of the field.

Despite cautions on lap 39 and 48, Majeski was able to stay out front and wheel his way to victory lane. Johnson finished second followed by Nason, Storm, and Miller.

“The car was really special tonight. Toby does a great job getting it ready for me,” said Majeski.

Austin Nason was the fastest in qualifying with a lap 17.311 (103.980 mph). Winners in the heat races were John DeAngelis, Austin Nason, and Jeff Storm.

Next Friday night at Madison, it’s the annual Salute to America Night featuring the area’s biggest and best fireworks display plus the Big 8 Late Models, Great Northern Sportsman Series, and Midwest Dash Series in action on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile. Pit gates open at 3:30, practice at 5:00, qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:30. For more information check out our website at misracing.com
