Miller, Goldade, and Snyder Take Home Checkered Flags at MIS

Jeremy Miller, Ryan Goldade, and Dan Snyder were the big winners tonight at Madison International Speedway as part of Kids’ Night at the Races.

Back to Back Wins for Jeremy Miller

Starting thirteenth in the sixteen car field, Jeremy Miller of Rockford, Illinois, was able to work his way through through traffic to pick up his second win in as many weeks in a caution filled 30 lap feature for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Models.

Rusty Hansen and Shane Morrisey paced the field to the green flag but the caution flag came out before a lap was in the books due to an oil leak from the Russ Grossen car. When the race finally went green, Hansen jumped out to the early lead.  Ryan Goldade moved up to second on lap 4 and took the lead on lap 6, but the caution flag had come out giving the lead back to Hansen.

Hansen maintained his lead after the restart before another caution flag came out on lap 9.  Once again Hansen was able to keep the lead but the rest of the field wasn’t going to give this one to him.  After the restart Miller was up to fifth and by lap 12 had moved into third place.

On lap 14 things got very interesting and a little intense.  As Goldade tried to get the lead from Hansen, he made contact with the leader while coming out of turn four.  This brought out the caution flag with both Goldade and Hansen going to the back of the field for their involvement, and the car of Kevin Knuese heavily damaged.  Some extra-curricular contact after the caution would result in Goldade having to take his damaged car to the pits while Hansen was black flagged for the altercation with Goldade.

This moved Miller up to the lead with Zack Riddle and Dale Nottestad up to second and third respectively.  From this point Miller never looked back and held off the duo to pick up the win.  Riddle finished second followed by Nottestad, Bobby Wilberg, and Casey Johnson.

“That was probably the longest thirty lap race I’ve been a part of,” said Miller from victory lane.  “It was definitely a wild one but things worked out well for us.”

Dale Nottestad set fast time with a lap of 18.819 with Casey Johnson winning the First Supply Dash and Morrissey and John Baumeister taking the victories in the heat races.

Three in a Row for Ryan Goldade

Defending champion Ryan Goldade made it three in row tonight by winning the 20 lap feature for the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman.

Rick Coppernoll and Steve Anderson brought the field to the green flag with Anderson taking the early lead.  Matt Lundberg motored by Coppernoll for second and started chasing down Anderson.  Anderson was able to maintain his lead with Goldade and Robert Hansberry in quick pursuit.

On lap 12 Goldade worked inside Anderson coming out of turn one and found the space he needed going into turn three to take the lead.  Hansberry tried everything he could to catch the leader but would come up short tonight as Goldade rolled into victory lane just ahead of him.  Rounding out the top five were Anderson, Lundberg, and Mike Taylor.

Goldade was the fastest qualifier with a mark of 20.232 while Anderson won both the First Supply Fast Dash and the heat race.

Snyder Back in Victory Lane

Dan Snyder won his second feature of the season by topping the field in the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits.

Jovanni DiMaggio jumped out to the early lead over Nick Schmidt before the caution flag came out on lap 2.  DiMaggio continued to lead after the restart before being overtaken by Schmidt on lap 4.  On lap 7, Snyder motored by Steve Dickson to take second and eventually catch the leader.  Nick Schmidt and Snyder ran side by side for several laps with Snyder gaining the advantage shortly before the caution flag waved on lap 14 for a spin.

Snyder was able to maintain his lead after the restart and hold off Nick Schmidt for the checkered flag.  Completing the top five were David Schmidt, Dickson, and Chris Tolliver.

“This was a good race and a lot of fun,” said Snyder.  “The cars are getting faster every week.”

Brandon DeLacy and Snyder matched quick laps with a 15.294 time.  David Schmidt won the First Supply Dash with Nick Schmidt and Dickson winning the heat races.

Next Friday night (June 5th) Colony Brands presents the Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge along with the Vores Touring Series (Four Cylinders) and Dave’s White Rock Sportsman.  Practice begins at 5:00 with qualifying at 6:20 and racing at 7:30.

On Saturday (June 6th) it will be the Dave’s White Rock Tractor and Truck Pull beginning at 6:00 PM with South Central Tractor Pullers, Badger Truck Pullers, and Tri County Mini Rods all in action along with a spectator truck pull paying $500 to the winner.
